I’m also confused as to why this is a stout in name, but a Baltic Porter in style on the menu at the Fort Worth location and elsewhere.

Grabbed this on a recommendation, but left wondering what the hell this beer really is? I mean seriously, there is really no reason to confuse the matter to this extent. Oh well...the proof is in the brew or something like that.
Pours dark brown with a bubbly tan head. Smells like cherry and milk chocolate with vanilla in the background, kinda like a cherry swirl. Definitely no major gripes so far. Cream, subtle cherry and chocolate, a hint of grain and faint alcohol spice on the tongue. It's sweet all the way through, but never cloying. Way smooth going down and medium to heavy in body with no harsh edges.
Proof positive a big, good beer doesn't always have to be an extreme one, but confusing labels can still be annoying.

OK first of all the ABV is 10.3% and not 8%. Aggressive pour yields a big frothy head. Smell is pretty flat with no scent of cherry at all. First sip yields a bitter dark (not sweet) chocolate/coffee flavor but still pretty flat. But once this thing warms up, the sweetness really and I mean really comes out. But still no cherry flavor at all. All in all a really good beer.
