Ugly, foggy, orange yellow with incredible head and lacing.

The smell is really nice and floaty. Rye and hops

It's very drinkable, but has a poor, old tasting, aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is strange. It splats on your tongue and slowly crawls back out like a splat ball. It's not great.

Overall, it's good enough to make me curious about their other beers, but I won't be buying a six pack.

A: Pale orange , opaque, thick white head. Doesn't really look like a German Pilsener, as classified. Maybe it's the rye?

S: Piney hop aroma, a little bread from the rye, sweet bread.

T: This definitely has a lot of flavor, more than I'm used to in a Pilsener. I'm a little disappointed because I was looking for something more mild to finish off the session, but this is pretty action packed. A lot of floral hop and piney-ness, more bitter and astringent than a normal pilsener.

M: Very carbonated, it almost has a bite from the effervescence. Not too watery, not too thick either. Like I keep saying, more than pilsener.

O: Interesting beer, not what I was expecting. Overall, more of an American Pale ale as far as flavor profile goes than a pilsener, in my opinion.

The beer pours a nice cloudy golden body with a thick white head that slowly fades and a leaves a little bit of lacing on the glass.

S: It has a sort of fruity smell, almost like a tripel actually. If I ever smelled this in a blind smelling I would have never guessed that it is a pilsner.

T: Oh yeah this is what a pilsner should taste like. Man it has that nice fruitiness, with sweet grain and a little bit of that typical pilsner type taste. I would have to say this is one of the best tasting pilsners I have ever had.

M: The beer is very creamy feel and has a a nice thick body. There is a tiny bit of crispness on the back of the throat, but all in all the beer goes down with ease.

O: This is ANOTHER great beer from Deep Ellum. I love being able to get their beer so fresh and I think this would be perfect on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn. I would for sure buy this delicious beer again.

On tap at Downhouse in Houston, TX.

A: Pours a perfectly clear golden/yellow color. A two finger, dense white head forms with excellent retention. Plenty of lace is left behind.
S: At first is a bit of sweetness. Big bready rye aromas come next. A light peppery spice with some fruity and floral hops in the finish. I like it.
T: Again, starts off sweet with a pronounced fruitiness. Orange rind and pears. Then quickly comes the big bready rye flavor that I love. Larger yeast and a dryness in the finish to balance out the initial sweetness. Grass and floral hops and a light lingering bitterness. There is lots going on here.
M/D: A light to medium body. Crisp carbonation, very clean, and smooth. So easy and enjoyable to drink. A great lager. All day with this.

It is not a classic example of a Pilsener, but the rye adds a lot of character. Something I really enjoy and went perfectly with my burger. I would highly recommend this.

I was in the mood for something crisply hopped, refreshing (it was a balmy evening) and not too strong since I was winding down for the night. This seemed like a good choice—plus it’s from Texas. Drink local!

This poured a golden straw color, with some foam that quickly died down.

It had a light aroma with a hint of rye spice and not much noticeable hop aroma.

The flavor had more of a hop presence. It was grassy, but not like a freshly mowed lawn. Rather, it was more like a lawn that was mowed yesterday morning.

There’s some spice on the finish. Some hop bitterness on the flavor comes through.

It’s definitely sessionable and summer-appropriate, but despite the premise its just not very exciting.
