Poured from a can into a point glass.

Nice deep yellow, crystal clear. Decent amount of head, and it lasts a good long while, too. No pun intended, based on their, ahem, "controversial" slogan, either.

Smells earthy, a bit dusty from the hops. Slight grain sweetness, but mostly just the "dirt" hop aromas, which are quite nice.

Taste is mild, as one would expect from a blonde. Not bitter, with a hop presence mostly in the flavor rather than from bitterness. Slight almost citrus flavor peeks in, then goes away just as quickly. You're left with an earthy aftertaste, again mimicking the aroma, with the dusty flavor and just a hint of malt sweetness.

Mouthfeel is quite light, as it should be. No complaints there.

The can is correct; this goes down easy. While it's difficult to drink while laughing at the overwrought hand wringing over the slogan without shooting beer out your nose, it can be done. And this is worth chasing down. It's nothing amazing, and won't change your life in any meaningful way, but it is a solid blonde ale, perfect for nights on the deck of afternoons by the grill, when you just want a beer without having to think hard about it.

A- Aggressive pour yields an inch tall white fizzy head. Body is a darker shade of yellow/lighter shade of orange. Cap and collar throughout, some splotchy lacing.

S- Aromas of pilsner malt, hay, grass, lemon.

T- Follows the nose. Not overdone with the sweetness as some of this style tend to be. Slight hop bitterness, well balanced overall. Dry and refreshing. Would guess 4.5-5%abv.

M- Medium to medium-high carbonation point, fits well here. Medium mouthfeel.

D/O- Rated to style. Nothing off-putting about this beer but nothing that stands out either. A fine alternative to mainsteam lagers. Thanks for this one kojevergas!

12 oz. can poured into craft beer glass (wide-mouthed stick)
"2/12/14" printed on bottom of can -- don't know if that's a canning or best-by date

L: a shade darker than blonde, closer to gold with a slight hint of amber; big 1-inch-plus head of fluffy, thick white foam that sticks and laces like crazy; it is mostly clear but a TON of debris in the column ... possibly this can is a month past it's best-by date (?)

S: grain and lots of it, but as it warms up, gives off a great bready malt sweetness ... very pilsener-like without the hops ... impressive

T: follows the nose on the grain side; it sweetens out a lot but the bready malt taste never fully materializes; next to no hop presence ... just a slight bit of back-bite from what tastes like English or German hops (earthy, spicy). as it warms more, the bread malt taste is showing up.

F: solid all around, plenty of carbonation ... very drinkable

O: I'm shocked. I fully expected this brew to suck -- "American blonde ale" seems like such a give-up category, like the "American amber ale." It could mean anything and usually means no taste (or worse). But this brew shows plenty of character, some nice barley malt sweetness, a great grain taste and the bread malt taste and smell is a nice surprise.

Again, the brew is super cloudy with debris, which makes me think the six-pack I picked up is old (the 2/12/14 printed on it might be a best-by date) ... BUT it's still really good. If it were closer to 4% ABV, I'd consider it a perfect session beer. At 5.2%, it's still a a good one and a beer I'll definitely be picking up again.

12 fl oz yellow aluminum can acquired at a local corner mart and served into a conical Pinthouse Pizza pint glass in low altitude Austin, Texas. Reviewed live. Reviewed as a blonde ale.

Served cold - at fridge temp. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: No bubble show forms as it's poured.

Pours a 3.5 finger head of white colour. Okay thickness and creaminess. Decently frothy. Little lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Head retention is above average - about 3 minutes.

Body colour is a translucent transparent pale copper. Kind of dirty looking. It's hazy, with hanging particles clearly visible in the body. It's kind of off-putting.

Overall, it's an underwhelming appearance for a blonde ale. Far from unique or special.

Sm: Clean barley, grains, and blonde malts. Some floral hop character. That's about it. A simple but fairly pleasant aroma of mild strength.

No yeast character, alcohol, or off-notes are detectable.

As it warms, I pick up on some light nectary character.

T: Blonde malts, clean barley, honey, grains, and floral hop character. On the sweeter side, but not cloying.

Has an okay balance and build. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour. It's certainly a simple beer, and lacks subtlety or nuance.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Lightly refreshing. Somewhat soft. A biteen overcarbonated. Medium-bodied. Moderate weight on the palate. Has nice presence for what it is.

Not oily, gushed, hot, astringent, boozy, or chewy.

Overall, this texture suits the taste well in a general sense, but doesn't come off custom-tailored specifically to it.

Dr: Easy to drink and enjoyable. It's a decent blonde ale, but I doubt I'll ever intentionally buy it again. I do like it for what it is, but I wouldn't recommend it to friends. A basic blonde from Deep Ellum.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a goblet.

A - Hazy and golden with about 1.5 fingers of white foamy head that quickly becomes about 1 finger. Soap bubble-like lacing down the glass.

S - Malty and slightly sweet smelling. I think I sense some citrus in there.

T - Less malt and more citrus. Very little bitter flavor.

M - Pretty thick and heavy for how light it looks. Sticks around on your tongue.

O - The look and smell had me optimistic, but the taste and mouthfeel didn't back them up. It's certainly not the worst beer I've ever poured out of a can, but it's also definitely not the best.

Passing over some old hand written reviews. I remember liking this one a little bit more than what the rating says. Guess i'm gonna have to drink it again! On to the notes: Orange body, hoppy aroma but not too overwhelming. Light body with a hoppy resinous presence, crisp and dry to the palate. In the end, easy comes easy goes!
