It's not often that a brewpub gets an American Pale Ale wrong, but unfortunately, Redfish managed in this case. It poured a clear yellow and resembled any macro brew in appearance, except it had no head. The flavor wasn't too good. It finished with a tart taste. I couldn't detect any hops..

We kinda stumbled into the place during the '08 GABF weekend. This- the first beer that caught my eye. Immediately I was impressed with the place based on this one beer. Lighter than normal, the beer may employ pilsner malts- this would explain the balance favoring the robust hops over the timid malts. Don't let that fool you, the beer is bready, rich with malt character, and balances very well. The caramel malts that typically would come though are muted, as well as strong esters or a lot of yeast character. Clean except for a mild plastic-y phenol that deters from the finish. A very enjoyable beer.

The beer pours a gold color with a 1/2" white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a nice pale and carapils malt scent that is fruity along with a wonderful floral hop aroma. The taste is good. It has a decent malt flavor that boasts of pale and carapils malts along with a bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low/medium bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a good drinking beer. It has pretty good flavor and aroma; a fine offering.
