12 oz bottle, no date. Purchased at Tower Atlanta. Test market?
A--Dark red-orange, with stout-like foam and solid lacing.
S--Surprisingly hop-forward, with plenty of Columbus, but with some pleasantly pungent rye notes in background.
T--Wonderfully complex: Initial West Coast IPA meets rye taste gives way to a very strong Mosaic-Amarillo hop finish.
M--Incredibly drinkable with very little alcohol bite despite 9%.
O--It's more about the hops than the rye, which is just fine with me. But the rye provides a nice unique background for a tremendously balanced, ridiculously drinkable 9% IPA. Definitely a West Coast IPA, and a damn good one.

A medium copper colored ale with very good clarity. The head is a mix of compact, creamy bubble and larger, soapy foam. The head is amber to tan colored with a long lasting head retention.
A outstanding, pungent citrus and floral hops aroma with a fair amount of rye spice. There is also some pine and earthiness to the hops along with a low caramel malt sweetness. Some esters of an American ale are hanging out under all that.
The citrus and tropical fruit hops flavor dominate along with the rye spice flavor. There are some hints of tropical and earthy hops flavors. A medium-low malt sweetness with a light caramel flavor are braced against an aggressive hops bitterness make for a balance that is very bitter. The finish is dry with an aftertaste of citrus hops and rye.
A medium bodied beer with a medium-strong level of carbonation. A medium-strong level of creaminess.
An extremely flavorful Rye IPA that is very bitter without being harsh and featuring some interesting hops character. The Mosaic seems to bring some tropical fruit and earthiness to the citrus and pine of the other American Hops. A lively and enjoyable beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear ruby copper red with a huge creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is spicy rye, sweet nutty caramel malts, and resiny piney hops. Fades as it sits in the glass.
The flavor is spicy rye and sweet caramel malt with a big resiny, slightly charred hop bitterness. Some plastic notes come out as it sits. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a nice hoppy double red with some rye. Better a little cold, fades as it sits.

12 oz bottle pours not a black, yet dark brown. head is light khaki. looks light in color,. lacing is medium and head is minimal yet present .nice carmel look, but not what I expected out of a BIPA... smell is ok. not intense, buddy, taste is slightly sweet and fruity with enough hop, for the style, with much balance. good amount of rye which adds another depth of spic and earthiness. mouthfeel is a highlight, with a lot to offer, light to medium body and exceptable smooth and creamy on the palate. overall would like to revisit on tap.. fish and chips are good here, however salmon fish might be better. french onion soup, something with body and richness. bacon wrapped scallops. the spice of the rye seems to compliment spicy food such as buffalo wings or thai chili/food,

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.
Appearance: Brownish-copper with decent, light tan head.
Smell: Smells exactly like rye, Amarillo and Mosaic hops. Nice.
Taste: Malt body of caramel, biscuit and toffee. Fairly hoppy as well, tart grapefruit paramount and additional layers of tropical notes, orange and berry. Finish is fairly spicy with lingering grapefruit.
Feel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Fairly dry and crisp finish.
Overall: Nice, big Rye IPA. Dangerously drinkable as well.

Deep brown in color with a tightly knit inch thick beige head of foam. Brussels lacing. Aroma of piney hops and spicy rye is prevalent. The flavor is spicy rye malt forward with the piny hops playing a somewhat background note. The mouth is moderately thick,a bit sticky, and dry.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness chalice.
Appearance: Pours a dark brownish amber red with a lot of rising bubbles. Big three finger off white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of lacing.
Smell: An earthy, fruity, and spicy hop forward aroma with big hints of citrus, pine, and rye. Earthy and floral hops with good hints of dank pine resin and grass. Citrus hop hints of grapefruit, mango, orange peel, lemon, pineapple, and apricot. Big spicy scent of rye. Toasted malt with hints of sweet caramel, grains, biscuit, cracker, and yeast. A very good ripe and juicy aroma.
Taste: Like it smells, a ripe and juicy hop driven taste with big notes of citrus, pine, and rye spice. Floral and earthy hop presence with big notes of pine resin and grass. Juicy citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, mango, pineapple, lemon, and apricot. Big taste of rye spice that plays well with the hops. Sweet malt backing with notes of caramel, yeast, biscuit, and cracker. Nicely bitter and juicy. A very good taste.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy, oily, and very drying. A little heat is noticeable but its not overly boozy.
Overall: A very good Imperial Rye IPA. Big in your face juicy hops with an equally strong rye presence.

On draft at Duckworth's, Cornelius NC.
Oh my - this is a helluva beer... dark amber, hoppy and malty and then the bitterness of the rye kicks in. Minimal head and a thin layer of oily lacing throughout, wonderful balance of hops and rye. Fantastic beer from a brewery known for their use of hops. Definitely try this if you get a chance.
