Live long and drink Cosmic Ristretto. This highly revered brew will go down in history as one of the first graduates of our Genius Lab program into our front line. Marvel at its rich black appearance with bruleed edges and mocha-colored beer foam. Breathe in its coffee aroma and sweet malts, and savor its smooth, espresso, chocolate flavor. Don’t fight its gravitational pull. This bold, complex, java-centric Baltic Porter with Espresso is irresistible. Houston, we have a problem, my glass is empty.

Poured from 22oz bottle into a tulip.
Appearance: rich, dark color, evocative of brown but basically black. Head is a finger of frothy dark-tan foam; its appearance is really wonderful.
Smell: malty and slightly sweet with a really lovely roasty, coffee flavor, accentuated by a little bit off toffee. The coffee element really complements the roastiness of the dark malt; it doesn't feel overwhelming or "green". I really like it.
Taste: lots of malt, toffee and coffee here; the flavor has a little bit of that "green" element, which I can only describe as a bit of a vegetal hop character that I get in some dark beers, which also reinforces a rawer characteristics of the coffee. That is more of a nitpick in an otherwise very tasty beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and creaminess. Based on the big malt and sweet character, I would expect a bit more body and creaminess from this guy.
Overall: mouthfeel notwithstanding, this is a very tasty beer that I would love to drink at breakfast while camping. Move over, coffee stout -- Cosmic Ristretto is in town!

This was poured into an English pint glass. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin white to off white foamy thin head. Semi-thin foamy lacing glosses around the sides of the glass nicely. The smell had a rich dark espresso to milky chocolate/semi-sweet cocoa bean but also somewhat burnt coffee bean. Decent roast. The taste tried to follow through on the wanted flavor. Mainly had that roasty to burnt flavor rolling on into the aftertaste. Slight dry/roasty/burnt finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with the burnt/roasty/espresso sort of feel hitting my tongue decently. Hmmm...there’s a part of me that wants to say "excessively," hmmm...not bad. Overall, for a Baltic Porter, pretty good for the most part, leans a bit more towards the roasty sort of almost burnt coffee bean-esque thing.

Poured a jet-black color with a small, tan head of bubbly foam. It smelled of coffee and dark chocolate. Good roasted malt flavor with a coffee bite. Some dark chocolate and sweet toffee, too.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown / black color and a thick consistency. There was an inch of foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Very good lacing.
S: A decent, but not exceptional aroma of coffee, chocolate and malt.
T: Tasted of a lot of dark chocolate, some light vanilla notes, a good shot of coffee (more like espresso), lots of roasted malt, a definite creaminess, and a grainy quality. An interesting flavor that seems more subdued than it should be. A beer with espresso should be more aggressive than this. Still, it's decently tasty.
F: A nice amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. medium-bodied.
O: This is very much an uneven beer. Green Flash has made better beers. Nonetheless, it was worth trying.
