This IPA is a cloudy amber color with some floaties bobbing around and settling at the bottom. The head is thick and foamy, fairly dense, about a full finger tall. Lacing sticks to the glass by way of a good amount of patching.
This beer's aroma is pungent, a strong and varied hops bouquet not lacking complexity. It starts off with lots of grapefruit, juice, zest, peel, the whole thing, with a floral and herbal element to back it up before some pure, resinous pine comes through. Malts are enough to genuinely add balance to this very strongly-hopped brew, adding enough caramel sweetness to curb any abrasiveness the bitterness provides.
On the tongue, the hop onslaught is immediate, and it's very much the same: the tart, sour very lightly sweet and bitter combination of ruby red grapefruit, pine resin, flora, pure leaf and herb, rounded out by a little mint. Caramel comes in with it to keep it balanced from the beginning, adding a little bread with a touch of dryness, almost toasty.
This one's pretty dry the whole way, though the body is semi-dry until the finish, where I would definitely consider it dry. The juiciness makes the mouth water and helps with the dryness. Otherwise it's nicely crisp and has a bit of smoothness running through the medium body as well.
