Thank you to JoeMayo for throwing this in as an extra in a recent trade.
Pours clear, amber leaning towards red. Dense cratered almost white head. A finger high, and slow to recede.
Aroma is strong, sweet and bitter citrus, pine, pineapple, a little floral hopping. Better than my poor words suggest, this has an outstanding bouquet.
Stronger in floral flavor than I had expected. Good floral flavor however, and that seems to be an overlooked direction in some IPA's. Don't fret though, because the citrusy hops shine here as well. Grapefruit and orange abound. A bit of pineapple. Malt is mild, but strong enough to even the scales a little. Caramel, and scant bread flavors are detected. No alcohol taste that I can pick up.
Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied. Good low carbonation let's the flavor do the talking. Finish is a bit short, not bad though. Would have enjoyed a slow fade, but no biggie.
This reminds me of an English style IPA, done in that California style. A nice break from all the citrus/pine clones. (That's not to say I don't enjoy them as well, but diversity is valued also.)
A very tasty beer, and it makes me happy to have received it as an extra. I would drink this often, if it was readily available to me.

the green flash was first tried in philadelphia at ortleibs. a great little place to see good music and enjoy several craft beer options. good people make everything more enjoyable and the staff there were friendly and helpful, and deftly navigating a busy hipster crowd. the green flash delivers mucho hops to your face and leaves your palate covered in it. smells like beer and i like beer smells. this is an ipa that is not for those who don't like ipa's, its an ipa drinkers beer... and i recommend this beer called the green flash.

Poured 12oz bottle into tulip glass
A: dark honey color with decent head that produces heavy lacing with every swallow.
S: pine and some citrus; hop dominant
T: pine, citrus Some malty sweetness mid-palate and then finishes with a tingling hop resin taste. Hop bitterness prevalent
M: medium bodied; very dry.
O: great IPA with some unique qualities in the subtle malt intertwined with big hop flavors and that tingling sensation from strong hop bite at the palate's end. Great IPA!
