Inbetween gold and Amber color with a little bit of carbonation and a thin head that dissipates quickly. Very good hoppy smell. Extra hoppy taste that makes you ignore the quaint bitter aftertaste that comes with pale ales. (224 characters)

Definitely my favorite Double IPA thus far. Had no idea what to expect when I bought this, but I bought it fresh and this thing blew me away. Beautiful blend of hops with a clean malt rides that line of balance all the way through and takes you along for the ride. A must have for IPA lovers. (292 characters)

I love the style, and this beer is an innovator but....it tastes a hair bit like a rusty tin can. Very up front, very bitter/abrasive, subtlety and nuance are not the name of the game with this in your face hop monster. If you're a hop head...step right up and take the challenge. (282 characters)

Pours a Orange gold like color with a good solid head. Slightly hazy but still translucent (personally I like most beers with a little haze). The aroma is everything you could want from an IPA, there's plenty of pine, citrus, and a tad bit of tropical in the mix. The taste is very reflective of this and all the hop flavors are very well balanced, and at 8% abv there is no booziness what so ever. This is now my standard for great IPAs. Nothing gimmicky or revolutionary, just everything is put together extremely well. (521 characters)

I don't mean this in a bad way but it is a very straight forward IPA. Nothing surprised me, but it is a solid beer. If you are in the mood for an IPA, this won't disappoint. (175 characters)

Amazing copper amber color. Decent head that's not a pure white. A lot of flavor up front but minimal bite on the way down, lots of aftertaste to linger. Excellent DIPA (170 characters)

8.1% ABV, 95 ibu.
A - clear amber (nearly brown), with finger n half finger.
S - piney really piney! caramel, toffee, little honey. zest. wood n earthy.
T - incredibly hoppy!! even more bitter than others who stated over 100ibu. hop juice juz go around the mouth, bit of alcohol n warm up the throat. malt comes late n decent.
O - if u want a really hoppy IPA, this is the one to get. but if u want a summer refreshing IPA, this probably too bold to drink. (457 characters)

I've never in my life had a better balanced IPA. Nice piney, resiny IPA with no overly dominant flavor. Goes down smoother than a slab of butter down a hippopotamus' back. I am pretty amazed by this one. (206 characters)

look: Nice Golden Color. Very short head but nice and off white.
Smell: Vibrant, Citrus, slight Piney, very little sulfur
Taste: Light body as expected. Strong Hop Flavor. Good pine notes
Feel: Slight Oiliness, Good watering going on from the Bitter, No Hotness for me from the alcohol.

Overall: Really Good DIPA great hop selection. Malt bill holds up. I will enjoy it again
Just to add...Does not seem like its a 95 IBU Brew....Not saying its not...just well balanced (470 characters)

Serving: 12 oz bottle (marked "BEST BY 24 August 15 F15031) poured into a shaker pint glass.

Appearance: Bright, clear amber copper with a lush, rocky off white head.

Smell: Grapefruit and pine needles with slight dankness.

Taste: Solid caramel malty base supports a full blast of hops: pine resin, grapefruit and herbal bitterness.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, slight oiliness and good, moderate carbonation.

Overall: Big, juicy, hoppy - prototypical West Coast IPA. (468 characters)

Appearance: Perfect dark copper color
Smell: As I crack the bottle open, humongous hints of pine hit me in the face. I pour it in a glass and can smell it from 3 feet away.
Taste: Foretaste a huge amount of pine. Back end has the sourness of grapefruit. Aftertaste sticks around an incredibly long time. Some malts in there- enough to keep minimal balance. A few minutes later i'm thinking, "Wow this is bitter!"
Mouthfeel: Definitely a warmth after a few sips
Overall: This is easily the best beer I've ever had (519 characters)

I love this beer's intensity. Coppery golden good looks, striking bottle and label, branding etc. always lead me back to this old standby however...I think its profile and overall hop balance is too mottled. It cannot decide if it's a floral/citrus or a piney bitter bomb. Aroma is definitely citrus but the flavor never truly grabs me and said "drink more of me NOW". And ultimately that's what I want. What makes me come back is their consistent lineup (green bullet, palate wrecker, hop head, etc), merch, and branding. So a month or two go by and I buy another and think, "oh yeah...". So this is more a reminder to myself. You can move along and ignore.

A: Brilliant amber under a 2” off-white foam cap that leaves specs of lace.
S: Minty, citrusy nose with traces of fresh sawdust.
T: A slightly sweet big melon presence supported by a strong malt character dries out in a herbal, grapefruit and pine bitter finish. While hop driven there is a strong balancing grainy malt backbone for support.
M: Rich and creamy, medium full body, medium carbonation.
O: Green Flash provides a lesson in how to do hops to maximize the flavor while retaining a dominating hop bitterness. (524 characters)

Pours a huge foam that never dissipates. Creamy lacing forms intricate shapes on the glass. Fruity, citrus, tropical aroma. Lots of hop oils. Fresh flowers. Intensely bitter hop character beginning to end. Grapefruit, pine needles and dish detergent are most prominent. Pleasant hop oils and alpha acids. Hint of honey and bread malt character attempts to balance. Hop dominance is acceptable and encouraged here. Medium to full bodied. Bone dry from the hop assault. Leaves my palate in devastation. Been a while since I've tried a new DIPA this good. A welcome treat. (584 characters)

Grabbed a bomber of this from TW in Chantilly; $6.99, I think. Not bad.

Appearance: honey colored liquid with bulbous head. Tons of sticky lace.

Smell: fruit(y) sweetness, pine, and sugary malt. The scent really whets the appetite!

Taste: Exactly as it smells! A perfect name for the ale since it tastes exactly like you would imagine a "west coast" ale should (i.e. citrus perfectly balanced with bitterness and sweet malt. Amazing!

Mouthfeel: ACE!

Overall: buy this beer whenever available. Definitely a great example of the style. MUCH better than other GF examples I've tried.

love this amazingly complex double ipa, 4 different hops with competing mouth sensations from citrus to pine. 95 ibu's and plus 8 % alcohol complete this insanely delicious ipa. (178 characters)

A standard pour unleashes a fury of burnt orange brew into the glass. It's volcanic for several minutes, leaving a big head with excellent lacing. Strong piney smell with orange peels. Strong soury bitter punches you in the face, accompanied by some banana, lemon rind tastes. A bit tacky aftertaste, but overall smooth.

Lots of flavor punches, but lacking on balance. Very good, but for me not among the elite IPAs (424 characters)

In your face Hops, I love it! Tried it on recommendation at a tap house and it met my expectations for hoppy awesomeness that is so characteristic of our beers on this side of the nation.

Average ipa, citra centric, good aroma ma poor taste profile. Good bitternes ar the end but not much tropical notes that i expected in a Dipa like this. I had better feeling with old version, normal ipa but maximal flavour. (223 characters)

Smell: Notes of pine, grapefruit, malty.

Appearance: Thin lacy head, rich amber color.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours with a small, white head. Is amber in color. Has floral, pine, and grapefruit aromas. Initial taste is of floral flavors Pine flavors immediately follow with grapefruit flavors enter in the end as floral and pine persist. A true symphony of flavor. As of most IPA's, it leaves a dry sensation in the mouth. An amazing IPA. Will definitely be trying this again. (413 characters)

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a IPA glass.

The color is a cloudy orange/amber with some yellow highlights and two fingers of foamy white head with some nice webbie lacing left on the glass.

The smell is citrus at first with some of the West Coast IPA character that is expected. There is tangerine and touches of lemon mixed in here in the nose. There some teases of grapefruit as things in into the malty background aroma. There is a touch of bread aroma here with some biscuit smell.

The taste is hops at first, meeting you just at the appointed time. These hops are punctual and are there when expected with a resiny hop flavor that is citrus throughout. There is flavor a freshly squeezed lemon here that is mixed with some tart grapefruit flavor. There is some great bitter hop flavor that leads into a dough flavor that makes me think of pizza crust. There is a slight tease of some pine way in the back past the fruit flavor, and the chewy dough flavor,

The feel of this beer is medium bodied and is just enough to fill out the corners but has a smooth drinkable feel that it feels like it’s not out to get you. The bitterness digs in but is not harsh for the regular craft beer drinker and feels like a welcome neighbor leaving the light so you know he’s home. (1,278 characters)
