A: slightly hazy; burnt orange coloring; 1 finger head that receded quickly to a thin film; moderate lacing;

S: a really nice combination of pine and tropical fruit;

T: dank pine up front morphing into some caramel malt in mid-palate; as it warmed, grapefruit became noticeable; moderately bitter long lasting finish with some residual pine resin;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; nicely crisp;

O: a really nice IPA; thoroughly enjoyable;

look: 4.5 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

The beer pours a lot of creamy white head and leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. The beer itself is a nice clear copper. The smell has strong sweet notes mixed with grapefruit hops mixed with floral notes. The smell also has weak hints of pine. The beer taste is surprisingly different from the smell. The taste has strong grapefruit and pine notes with weak floral notes and a bit of malt sweetness to it. The beer also has a slightly yeast backbone that works very well with the hops. The mouthfeel is smooth and medium bodiedbut is a bit heavy. Biting carbonation with a dry finish. Overall, a fantastic IPA and worth getting. I'll definitely pick this one up again.

12 oz bottle purchased on 6/09/14 from Atlas Bottle Works in Pittsburgh, PA.

A - Relatively bright for an IPA, orange-copper hue. Nice head that disappears quickly into a thin line.

S - Pineapple, apricot, and date notes. Very well balanced double IPA aroma.

T - Hops from the start with bright citrus notes, overtaken by toffee and caramel from the malt before everything is overwhelmed by a big bitter finish.

M - Crisp and light bodied from the carbonation, more so than I would expect from a beer this heavy.

O - An excellent double IPA, perhaps not the standard bearer for this style but a fantastic beer. I would like to try it on draft.
