12 oz. bottle, with best before date 11/13/2014 printed on the label. It's been a long time coming since I've last had this beer, so I'm not quite sure what to expect anymore aside from hoppy goodness.
Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.
A - It pours a nice burnt sienna orange colored body with one finger of foamy off-white head. Adequate carbonation streaming topside from the etching at the bottom of the glass. Some tiny sediment particles noticeable. Leaves behind some nice lacing as the head recedes. 4
S - The smell is mostly all floral & grapefruit. Piney & citric, just like the label describes. A pleasant aroma, but I was expecting more depth to it, in all honesty. 3.5
T - The taste follows the nose - a bitter hop bomb all around. Grapefruit, orange, pine, and a subtle but noticeable caramel malt bill on the end. 4
M - The feel is extremely bitter and resinous. An easy drinking beer for 8.10% abv, though. It leaves the palate craving for another sip to quench the dryness left behind. Lingering notes of dank pine and grapefruit. Enjoyable, yes, but almost too bitter I might say. 3.5
Overall, it was about what I expected / remembered it to be - an all around resinous hop bomb. Two years ago, I might have raved about such a beer, but nowadays I find it rather uninspired. Still, a nice beer in the realm of big bitter double IPA's. I look forward to trying more from Green Flash.
