Poured from a 12 oz. bottle and saw dark gold color with an active foaming. Smell was of grapefruit, grass, pine; eveything a grown man needs. Taste was a hops assault; lovely. Very fruity and piney with just the right amount of bitterness. Great IPA! Mouthfeel was deliciously refreshing as well. Will definitely be back for more.

appearance: Hazy orange amber. Whitish billowy head on the pour that settles down with a bit of lingering lace.
smell: All grapefruit and pine with a bit of sweetness buried in the hops.
taste: Bitter hops from the start, through the middle, and resurges in the finish. A little citrusy sweetness tries to balance but is pretty much clobbered by the muscle bound hops.
overall: I can see this being a favorite for beer geeks and i gotta admit, maybe i'm a philistine but prefer the hops to be a bit more balanced by other notes. Sure I dig hop monsters like Founders Devil Dancer but that guy has monster malt too.

12oz bottle served in a pint glass.

pours a clear, medium amber / copper shade with a big, creamy / frothy 2+" beige head. great retention and sticky lacing all over the place. IMHO if not a picture-perfect looking brew, close to it. fragrant nose starts with a wallop of citric and pine hops, followed by some subtle caramel malt notes. nice.

flavor delivers on that promise with heavy citric / pine hoppy characters, secondary notes of floral hops and the malt. bit more malt presence than i'd have guessed going off the aroma. medium bodied mouthfeel with average carbonation.

overall, a very nice IPA. while there is a malt presence, make no mistake this one showcases an array of hops, both first and foremost. quite enjoyable. only caveat here is that these tend to hang around a while, and freshness is paramount.

On the label it says " taste it once remember it forever, that is the truth. Anytime I can get this I invest wisely and get a minimum of a case. This is the IPA that created the west coast -hi ibu palette- that I now can't escape from. I never look into my cooler with anything less than satisfaction when I have the west coast Ipa in it.

Wow. I'm at a loss right now. So unexpected. West Coast is the same colour as Schneider Weisse Hopfen-Weisse, which I think is amazing for an American IPA. Deep burnt orange. Quite cloudy. The head dissipates quickly but leaves nice lacing. Beautiful.
The smell is exactly what you'd expect from a beer with Simcoe, Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops - fruity, citrus, piney, floral all at once. Not much else can sneak by that barrage.
The taste is surprising well-balanced considering how insanely hoppy the finish is. Nice sweetness up-front, but not even close to the bitter that follows. The pine and citrus dominate.
Medium-bodied, with a dry finish and a perfect amount of carbonation.
Overall, this beer is ridiculously good. I WILL be picking this up again.

without a doubt the very best interpretation on the style i have had so far. this beer is heavily hopped but in a way that makes the beer easy to drink
have made it my first option and on draught it is one that i search out when heading out - will go to a different place if i know its on tap there
the beer sits wonderfully on the tongue - rolls easily down the throat with just the right amount of flavoring from the hops - would suggest this to anyone
