Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a hazy orange-copper color with a huge
billowy white head. The head had large carbonation bubbles entrapped within. It faded very slowly to give a fair amount of lacing.

Smell – A good helping of hop aroma. While mainly citrus in nature there were aromas of some earthy and pine notes. In the background of the smell there is a light biscuit aroma as well.

Taste – The flavors follow the nose quite well. Up front there are nice citrus hop flavors, largely grapefruit in nature, with a good biscuit base. The hop flavors actually lighten in the middle leaving a window for a light citrus sweetness to come into play. More toward the end some hoppiness comes back. The grapefruit hop makes a resurgence and this time is mixed with pine and some earthy flavors leaving a pleasing middle of the ground hop flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – A very creamy body with a lower level of carbonation. The creaminess really allows the hop flavors to sit on the tongue. Very nice for the style and flavors.

Overall – Nice flavors and a great mouthfeel make for one very nice drinking brew.

Poured ice cold into a 'frozen' glass, so little head, but lacing down the inside of the glass was lovely. Aroma was absolutely intoxicating with hints of bitter-citrus and green pine.

Color was that of dark, glowing amber or dark honey.

Mouthfeel was indeed a treat! Hoppy-citrus lovelyness with a wonderful bitter finish. I actually stopped, closed my eyes and just took another sip to experience it again. They're not kidding with the claim "Extravagantly Hopped" either, this beer is hops up to your eyeballs for sure, but not overwhelmingly so.

A wonderful experience drinking this beer, I will definitely be on the lookout for more.

Served on tap at Jerry's in Wicker Park.

I've been looking forward to trying this fresh, and definitely had it fresh yesterday. Looks the part of an American IPA: medium rust colored. Smells weedy, and a bit of citrus blend as well. This guy is a true hop monster. I don' recall having another beer that is quite so hop forward. Very little malt to balance, which is just fine with me. There is a lingering bitterness, leaving that grapefruit rind taste behind. If you are not afraid of a true "palate scorcher", seek this out...pronto!

A - pours a very orangish amber with a mountain of thick, foamy, soft, pure white head that has great retention

S - very floral, light bread, light citrus

T - bready, biscuity, doughy, citrusy, faint piny floral bitter finish

M - smooth, light carbonation, med bodied

Overall, this is a very enjoyable, drinkable, flavorful, smooth IPA. I will definitely have this again.

A: Stand-out feature here. Pours a hazy bronzy-orange with a full head of dark eggshell white foam. Head is bubbly -- always look for that. Nice amounts of sediment and bubbles in the body of the brew. A+ for appearance all the way.

S: A very nice citrusy, malty aroma with pine notes bringing up the rear. That addicting West Coast IPA smell that you get in with Stone IPA, and some other popular beers. Maybe a bit too much on the malty side for me. Also, hints of caramel, resin, and marijuana.

T: For me, this is one of the better malty tasting IPAs. It's not a malt bomb, but -- for me -- it was malty. The citrus that I got in the aroma is gone here. But, what remains is an earthy flavor that burns the palette. A couple of things standing out is the refreshing finish that makes this beer amazingly drinkable. Not really dry, and definitely not boozy.

M: For me, this is where this beer trips up. Look -- nice body; I thought the carbonation was a little on the heavy side. There's some chewy maltiness to the beer, but I'm looking for more. Just above average for me.

O: A quality malty flavor that never crosses the line to boozy. It almost does, but it walks the line better than Johnny Cash. I've just grown so accustomed to these citrus bombs, which I enjoy so much, that this beer-drinking experience doesn't quite match that. Really good beer, though.
