Appearance: Amber with some darker orange leanings. Head is white, rocky, and starts off massive. Head drops to a spotty cap. Chunks of lacing stick to the glass. Remarkably clear. So pretty.

Smell: Pine resin, pith, tropical undertones. Peach, tangerine, orange and grapefruit. Mega fruity. Nice malt backbone. A little roasted edge. Caramel malt sweetness. Slightly cooked. Pith. Oily rind. Floral and sweet. Slight raw edge. Aggressive citrus.

Taste: Holy grapefruit. Pith and oily pine resins. Smacks of straight bitterness. Malt backbone comes through. Nicely sweet on the low side. Caramel malts. Some roasted/cooked malts on the back. Flower petals. Raw hop aggression. Malts get buried after a few sips. Mint and fresh tobacco leaf.

Mouthfeel: Close to full without crossing over. Dryish, but just enough to make the mouth want more. Carbonation is on point.

Overall: Unchain the hop beast. Your tongue will understand.

I've tried this on tap numerous times. It never impressed. However, a super fresh bottle showed me what the fuss is all about. Bitter and crushing, but so worth it.

Picked up a 4 pack of 12oz bottles for $9.49

A - This beers pours a beautiful orangish blonde color with a generous 2 finger, creamy head. As the head fades it leaves amazing lacing all down the glass.

S - The smell is not super-strong, but there were definitely some piney / citrusy hops coming forward that got me excited.

T - A variety of delicious hop flavors hit you right away, as you would expect from a good IPA. Lots of juicy citrus and pine. The hops are balanced by a nice, sweet malty base that doesn't detract from that great hop flavor at all. What I really love about the taste, is that by the end of each sip, the bitterness starts to fade into a sweet taste - which of course makes you thirsty for another sip!

M - I would call the body "medium." It's slightly creamy too with a perfect amount of carbonation.

O - This is one of my favorite IPA's out, especially for the money. I live in Chicago, so I don't have regular access to some of the most famous West Coast IPA's (Pliny)... but beers like this make that not SUCH a bad thing...

A: deep clear amber, fat tan head that drapes laces as it retreats

S: strongs hops above a bready caramel malt base

T: bitter hops strong up front with lots of deep pine resin, chewy rye bread, musky malt sweetens it

M: dense, coating, bold

O: this is a hearty IPA - and has a deepness and boldness that makes it more bitter but also fairly heavyweight. Not a beer for the meek - elements of it were reminiscent of Stone's "Bastard" ales, IPA-style...

Giving green flash west coast ipa a go tonight

A- hazy amber with fluffy head of foam that slowly recides leaving traces of lacing on the edges of the glass. A thin layer of foam lingers leaving a hazy impression at the top of the glass

S- good tropical aromas are channeled to the front of the glass. Pineapple and mango are the most lingering fruit themes while a bitter scent shows up partly through. It's pungent, but not to the extreme

T- very piney and bitter flavors spike the tongue as it combines with the tropical flavors. Very driven towards the obvious west coast theme of hop forward tropical citric themes. Topping it off with bitterness makes for a delicious brew

M- prickly hop flavors tacking the tongue and palate

O- A good west coast ipa that is certainly worth grabbing from time to time
