Like catching up with an old best friend, that's how I feel about GFWCIPA, with so much world class brew here in So Cal. I often overlook this classic. Poured into my Boulevard tulip this brew is amazing to look at, bright orange with darker amber edges. The head is a beautiful thick creamy two inch cap that stays on the sides throughout the drink. The nose is biting grapefruit rind, hops, and fresh pine, very nice. The flavor follows with bitter citrus and explosive hops that refresh and entice another quaff. The mouth is brilliant, great carbonation, bone dry and clean, the finish is quite impressive as well. Glad I grabbed a four pack and re-acquainted myself with a long time fave.

A brilliantly hoppy, west-coast style American IPA. Wish I'd bought more than just the one bomber...

Pours a beautiful hazy amber, burnt orange coloured with impressive cappuccino coloured head. Lacing is visually stunning, and mouthfeel is pleasantly carbonated, and not too oily or viscous.

Aroma of caramelized malts and citrus tones. Hops run through the flavour from front to back, leaving a lingering finish that is well balanced between sweet, savoury and bitter. Citrus, tropical fruits and everything I'd ever hoped for in "c" hops...

An excellent beer I will seek out again!

22 oz bomber poured into a snifter

A- A clear dark copper with a three finger off-white head.

S- Earthy hops, piney hops, some citrus hops, hint of tropical fruits, wet grass.

T- Like the nose with less wet grass and a huge bitter piney/resin finish that really lingers.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O - A good IPA, but not the best, nothing really wowed me about this beer, but I will buy it again.

On tap at Tony’s Darts Away in Burbank, CA.

Pours clear light orange with a 1 inch foamy bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is a total hop bomb: herbal, floral, citrus zest. Taste is also all about the hops with citrus zest and herbal/floral hop flavors battling for dominance. There is a somewhat assertive hop bitterness that lingers on the palate long after each sip. Unfortunately, this beer was flat as hell and that made it a bit of a chore to drink. Overall, this is a good IPA that blasts your nose and mouth with hops of all kinds.

Poured from a 22 oz. capped bottle (no date) into a pint glass.

A strong pour yields a 2-finger cream-colored head that slowly dissipates after a few minutes to a thick dusting and thick foam ring. The body is a slightly hazy amber tangerine with a light amount of rising carbonation bubbles. Great lacing can be seen clinging to every available surface throughout consumption.

The nose is primarily composed of grassy and piney hops aromas. Some sweet citrus hops aromas are also noticeable in the background but are difficult to analyze.

Light and sweet at the start, flavors of pine, tangerine, mandarin orange, and grapefruit. As the beer is swallowed, a strong pine flavor emanates from the center of the tongue outward. This quickly gains a strong bitterness that, combined with the flavor, wipes out all traces of any other flavors.

Medium bodied with great carbonation, this beer is a treat to drink. The body is just heavy enough to allow the flavors to really impact the palate while never becoming sticky. The carbonation is a little fizzy but definitely helps to keep the body enjoyable and the finish crisp.

12 oz. bottle poured into standard pint.

A - Pours a cloudy, only slightly translucent amber. A two finger bright white head sticks around for a bit, then gives way to a nice ring of foam that leaves leveled lacing all the way down the glass.

S - Big grapefruit and pine. Some sugar sweet and biscuit notes as well.

T - Lives up to the name with a strong pine and citrus hop presence throughout. There is also a subtly sweet bread malt backbone that rounds it out. It is bitter on the finish, but not overwhelmingly so. The flavors last on the tongue.

M - Medium carbonation with a slightly resinous feel. Not very dry for such a hop bomb.

O - I picked this up after hearing good things. I enjoy very hoppy IPA's and this is just that. The alcohol isn't present at all and the citrus comes across beautifully. It was a bit pricey for a four pack but I plan to get it again when I need a West Coast IPA fix.

Luminescent gold in the glass with a faint haze.

Citrus, grass and pine square-dance in the nose with more complex Birch bark notes as it opens up.

A big mouthful of flavor, terrific interweaving of bright top notes - lemongrass, tangerine - with a light caramel base. Silky mouthfeel and a bitter zap-and-fade on the finish.

Really, really nice!

Not quite a hop bomb, but close to that mark. Big hoppy aroma with warm herbal notes. Hops kick in right from the start, with a dual pine rosin and bitter citrus character. Solid amber malt with the barest touch of toastyness. The high abv is surprising, as there is no raw or hot alcohol flavor. Very well done.
