The thing that I like most about the appearance of this beer is the creaminess of the head. It foretells of a loaded beer that has a slightly syrupy viscosity and delicate but ample carbonation.

The smell of cascade hops is immediately pleasant. The smell of cascades always gives me a strong craving for beer, but it's a very welcome craving. It smells very sweet and flowery

The taste is anything but neutral. It starts sweet and floral and has a strong lingering botanical bitterness that is only momentarily cleared when you take the next sip. It's like this beer is engineered to increase your sipping rate. Pine, solvent citrus, and some alcohol are present upon exhalation.

IMO, this is the best widely distributed IPA in California.

A – It poured a nice translucent amber color with a fluffy cream-colored one-finger head. A portion of the head retained during the entire life of this brew.

S – Grapefruit!!! There are also some herbs coming through.

T – Grapefruit yet herbal, also some sweet yeasty bread with some pine. A piney, herbal aftertaste is left behind… I like this aftertaste; it lets me know I'm drinking an IPA.

M – Medium to full body, with a smooth feel to it. The alcohol is very well hidden; there is only a slight burnt toward the finish with a bit of resin.

O – My first Green Flash brew was a good one; my area just got them in, and I‘m glad they did.

On-tap at the Oasis Micro-Pub in Rockford, IL.

A - Hazy amber, about 2 fingers of head with pure white lacing, clinging to the sides of your glass for dear life.

S - Hops big and up front, crisp and clean citrus fruit follows close behind, like fresh-sliced grapefruit. Nice.

T - A hophead's dream. Hoppy bite up front, with strong flavors of grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, and some maltiness squeaks in amongst it all. Complex, enticing, fantastic.

M - Very drinkable, nice amount of carbonation keeps it light in the mouth, no alcohol burn.

O - One of my favorite IPAs, I'd suggest it to anyone who loves IPAs, an aspiring beer aficionado, or willing to branch out to something new.

Draft - reviewing this one again as I assume the last bottle I had was old.

A: Pours a hazy orange color with a finger of thick white foam. Active carbonation is evident inside the beer with bubbles flowing from the bottom. Head retention is remarkable.

S: A great mixture of piney and citrus hops with a hint of breadiness and caramel. The hops lean more piney than citrus, and the sweetness is low.

T: Very dry and bitter. I still get quite a bit of piney hop flavor as I had in the aroma, but this beer is quite bitter and not the explosion of hop flavor I was hoping for.

M: Light with good carbonation.

O: This is a dry and bitter IPA. It doesn't have enough hop flavor in my opinion, either. It's certainly not bad, but I'm honestly not a huge fan.

A: Pours a clear gold with a thick, lingering white head.

S: Aromas of navel orange, lemon, grapefruit, caramel, biscuits, tangerine, and mango are present on the nose.

T: A bitter, hoppy entry reveals notes of mango, lemon, lime, navel orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pine, cream, caramel, and biscuits. The finish is mellow and fruity with flavors of mango, tangerine, orange, and grapefruit dominating.

M: This ale is medium-bodied and relatively dry, though it does become a bit sticky and resinous on the tail. Carbonation is present, but unobtrusive. Very drinkable for its strength.

O: This is another excellent American IPA. Beers like this serve to remind one of why Green Flash is so critically acclaimed. A must try for any IPA enthusiast.

Pours a rusty tinged gold, semi hazy with some golden highlights when held up to the light. A finger of off white head forms a creamy dollop when it recedes and leaves some thin sheets of lace on the glass.

Malt forward with caramel and vinous fruit dominating, pungent hops keep a steady pine and rind backing but nothing really stands out here no floral or bright citrus character.

Solid malt back bone with a tinge of cereal grains, sweet breads and a touch of toastiness. Come in whole and full, pine resin and oils but a bit earthy and muddy as well. Slight backing of sweet citrus and a large full bitterness that assists drying and stays long after the finish.

Average body with active carbonation that really kicks up the crispness and makes the bitterness snap into the palate. Quite pleasant with big bitterness and dries well. Quite refreshing.

Wasn't quite what I expected out of this beer, the hop profile was pine resin and earthy but still will make a hop head happy, I appreciated the general mouthfeel. Not exactly the most artful brew, it seems like alot of great hops and flavors were thrown against the wall to make this brew. Fortunately most of them stuck.
