12 oz. bottle poured into tulip
(3/5/15 best by)

L: peach/gold ... lots of amber/orange in it; cloudy at first and loads of debris; 1/3- to 1/2-inch offwhite head of foam, laces a little, keeps a bright collar; it clears up a bit, but even as it clears, you can still see the debris

S: candied orange with bitter pine; pretty sweet, slightly in that caramel/mango range but the bitter is strong; as it warms, becomes much, much sweeter than the taste

T: very bitter, pine, citrus, candied orange, some grapefruit; the alcohol and hops jump in there and then hang back in the aftertaste ... burn in the throat is alcohol, but the hop bite is so stout that it's lingering

F: very full, almost thick but very carbonated ... a good light heavyweight, pulling well short of syrupy

O: BIG hop bite here, and lots of bitter up front, in the middle and on the back; it's not a grapefruit bomb, but the pine and bitter mix up with the orange to create something close; classic big hoppy brew

12oz bottle, Best by 03/12/15, 8.1% abv. It's been about 4 years since I had this one (when it had the lower abv). I wasn't happy about the switch to 4 packs along with a price hike, but I figure it's time to try a bottle again seeing as it has a new recipe
A - amber-copper color with a frothy ivory head that leaves thick lacing on the glass
S - piny, grapefruity aroma with some caramel maltiness as well
T - the name lives up to expectations - huge bitterness with pine and grapefruit at the helm, modest caramel malt backbone provides some sweetness, but this is definitely hop forward with notes of pineapple, orange, and mango as it warms a bit
M - fuller body, very bitter with hop oils pungently coating the palate. Finishes very dry with bold lingering bitterness
O - excellent west coast IPA (now DIPA), but I doubt I'll buy it any time soon secondary to its high price point.
