Nice grassy hop aroma right off. A little citrus but not much so a little unusual for a West Coast DIPA. Some yeasty effects of bread and a little fruity ester. The hops are big but a little caramel smelling malt is under them.
Deep gold, almost orange, color. arrived with a half inch solid and just off-white head that faded to a solid thin layer of foam. Just a couple of areas of rising bubbles from the bottom of the glass. Very nice lacing with each sip all the way through the pint.
Very complex flavors. Plenty of bittering hops but lots of cereal grain maltiness too. I'm thinking grape nuts. Hop flavor, oh yeah. Woody hops, some citrus hops, and even a little floral too. I'm thinking there's a bunch of varieties in here. Warming up I get lots of caramel malt backbone but still dry as can be from the high bitterness but the malt flavors are there too.
Full bodied with a high but still creamy carbonation. A little warming from alcohol but no harsh alcohol flavor at all.
This is one big-ass beer. I'm on a hop kick again. I go in cycles. This is right in my wheelhouse right now. Eventually I;ll shift back to big bodied malty, spicy, belgians but right now, this is something I'm going to drink until the kegs around town kick.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into Chimay Chalice
A: Turn signal amber. Turn signal is slightly aged with this hazy oxidized turn signal vibe it puts off. White head that pours a finger and stays around half that throughout. Lacing is considerable.
S: Floral hops. Grass. Citrus. Malt.
T: Floral. No hop bite that is in some IPAs. EXCELLENT. I don't believe I have had a better IPA. I might have bitten into a mellow hop pellet but I don't know it. It is delicious. Citrus. Lemon whites. Light alcohol. Full marks.
M: Medium to full bodied for style. Carbonation is adequate. Smooth, filling. The lack of burn from alcohol is absolutely refreshing.
O: May not have had a better IIPA. Green Flash has impressed me before; they only continue to impress.

Purchased at Whole Foods pursuant to beer steward label stating, "beat Pliny in blind in-store taste test." A misrepresentation of sorts. A deep amber appearance. The scent is slightly off, as if the hops used were not very fresh. Great taste but a little flat. Acceptable mouth feel but lacking interesting spices or notes. An excellent imperial IPA, but not likely to purchase again.
