Bottle: solid brown longneck, with an acceptable non-macro label.
Appearance: a solid, impressive looking beer. A slightly hazy copper-orange with a very impressive head. Nigh 3-finger with a thick and creamy consistency that drops to mountainous peaks. Incredibly longevity and lacing. Top notch!
Aroma: the usual American IPA-style of 'singe your nose hairs off' hop overload. Still, citrus, pine and grapefruit are clearly noticeable.
Taste: not as much hop flavour as I was expecting, more simply hop bitterness. Not as well rounded as I (and my wallet) had hoped - just a fair ol' whack of bitterness with no discernible flavour.
Aftertaste: follows from the taste, but with - if possible - even more bitterness.
Mouth feel: mouth feel is pretty much spot-on. Reasonably thick with limited yet fine carbonation.
Overall: certainly not the best AIPA I have had - too much hop bitterness and not enough discernible flavour. But hey - not bad as either a sipper or a few gulps of ABV wipe-out.

I really don't get some of the complaints for this beer. "No hints of hops"? Are we even drinking the same beer? Anyway, this beer might be my favorite double IPA, at least out of the ones easily available to us poor British Columbians. It is one of the best examples of the style, with an insanely up-front grapefruit-y hop aroma on the mouthfeel and a really dry aftertaste. At 9.4% abv, it's probably also really dangerous, as I could see myself drinking multiple bombers with nary a thought given to to the side effects. It's so dry and delicious, nothing bad could ever happen if you drank like 5 bombers in a row, right?
I really don't know what else to say about this beer. I keep trying to come up with some downsides to it and I keep coming up short. The smell isn't as delicious as the actual taste of it, I guess? That's a valid complaint, right? Also, the appearance of it misleads you into thinking it is a normal beer as opposed to the alcoholic cornucopia it actually is, so that is definitely another valid complaint against it. It's also kinda pricy in BC, which kinda sucks if you get addicted to it, much like how it sucks when you have to pay for crack cocaine.
