12 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a one finger head tha has reduced to a puffy layer. It is a golden orange color with a hazy clarity and signs of carbonation coming up through the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: yeasty goodness and super hops aroma. Spiciness from the yeast and lots of citrus from the hops. Bready and sweet malts along with grassy and pungent hop aromas too. Very funky aroma wth a lot going on here.

Taste: hops are up front here. Citrus, pineapple, and pine that leave a lingering bitterness in the beer. Picking up some banana and bready malts too. Spiciness and some belgian characteristics follow. Very interestingly tasty.

Mouthfeel: smooth, a little chewy, full bodied, medum carbonation, a little dry, and a lingering bitterness.

Overall: A good offering by GF to the BIPA style. Super hops up front that leave a lingering bitterness, but the beer did get better as it warmed up. Hops could be toned down a bit or just add a bit more sweetness, which in turn will add more alcohol to the beer. The alcohol is veyr well hidden too.

A- Pours a hazy orange. Gives a nice slightly off-white head that never disappears, but transforms into this light foam topping connected to the sticky lacing.

S- Smells great! Yeasty, fruity, banana cloves infused with piney spicy bitterness mixed with candied sugary sweetness. A hint of booze.

T- Begins on the Belgian side....smooth, creamy, a lot of yeast with hints of fruit sweetness before giving way to the IPA. As the IPA steps in to make itself known with its very present hoppiness.

M- has a some weight on the toungue more like the belgian and the carbonation is on dead on.

O- This is an excellent blend of two styles that really works well together. I will definitely be picking up another soon!

Pours a pretty hazy bright yellow fluid into a tulip glass. Some sediment, a sticky lacing.

The aroma comes with sweet malts, lemon grass, honey, and floral brightness.

Flavor in the mouth has a lot going on, sweet malts up front, followed by mango/pineapple, with some bourbon-like wood on the back end. Alcohol content is definitely a ghostly presence, but not frightening. Goes down easy.

This is quite good. I'm a malt guy who loves double IPA's, but not regular IPA's. The key, here is the Belgian quality, the hop bitterness backstopped by strong fruit-juice sweetness and bready grain. I like it nearly as much as my favorite IIPA's, Double Trouble, Hopslam, Lupulin Maximus, Lagunitas Maximus, and the like.

What I identify in my more memorable Belgian pale ales and Belgian strong pale ales (and which I don't get here) is that banana-taffy flavor and aroma. I think that might be what some reviewers call a "tropical fruit" flavor? Wish I knew what gives a Belgian that odd banana sweetness. Time for research mode...
