Looks like a tamed IPA. The color is a honey-orange, faintly cloudy IPA looking beer. The head is quite attractive with a foamy, finger and a half thick sliver of bubbles. It has thick peaks and craters, never fully dissipates, and has a thickish lace behind.
Smells like you'd think it would with some flowery Belgian candy mixed in with some citrus that includes the sweetness of pineapple. A little bit of orange rind and bubble gum fills out the bouquet.
Complex flavors include bubble gum, pear and pepper, citrus fruits and orange rind. Pale malts are there, along with possibly pilsner malt.
Mouthfeel is all over the place in a nice workable manner. A blip of tangy, some spicy, a pinch of sweet, followed by a long, lingering bitterness. Despite relatively high ABV, the alcohol goes mostly unnoticed. Medium bodied, a bit of carbonation and fairly dry finish.
While this was a hybrid, it's like 4 parts IPA and 1 part trippel. The IPA pieces mask a lot of the trippel pieces, but the trippel pieces are pretty special while you notice them. It's a good beer, is easy to drink, and even with high ABV, is very approachable.
