Beautiful golden, copper color, crystal clear liquid topped with 3 inches of stark white head. Retention was quite good with the head falling slowly to an unbelievably tall ¾ inch crown that persisted for the entire glass. The lacing was outrageously good coating the entire glass where the head receded.
Incredibly strong aroma, was immediately apparent upon popping the cap. The aroma is like clove studded citrus fruit. Lots of cloves. Orange, lemon and grapefruit. Leafy green hops. Caramel malt and bready malts.
Initial flavor is bready and sweet caramel malts. This is followed up by a big punch of cloves. After this a huge whap of bitterness comes with hints of leafy green hops and grapefruit pith. Fruit is layered through the entire flavor profile, from grapefruit to blood oranges to pineapple and other tropical fruit notes. There are also momments of peppery spiciness. The finish is a long brash bitterness combined with a dryness that really begs you to take the next sip.
Medium body is back by a very creamy body. This creaminess is cut by a very zingy, crisp carbonation formed by very small bubbles.
This is very good Belgian IPA. I could easily have several glasses of this.
