12 Oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip
Looks like this is the first review of the new 12 Oz bottles

A- Hazy only when swirled. A surprisingly light golden orange. A huge three finger off white head with big bubbles and dense foam. Lots of little particles swimming around in this one. Nice retention and lacing.

S- Smells a lot more tripel then IPA. A nice light fruity bitterness up front. A wheaty Belgian yeast strain smell. A candy sweet smell and a little bit of west coasy hopiness but not much. An odd smelling brew.

T- Strange, A big hop bitterness up front and the wheaty Belgian flavors come in behind it and its quite odd. Hop profile is not very dominant because its only half IPA but it's undeniably west coast. A good bit of pine and grapefruit. The Flavors from the tripel side are wheaty, a lot of Belgian sugar and some dark fruit. A slight spiciness and clove and a tiny bit of alcohol. A complex and interesting blend.

M- Goes down really easy. Its not as bitter as a DIPA or as chewy as a tripel, really quite odd how well it works. Its well carbonated and the flavors are interesting enough to keep me coming back.

O- This is one of the most strange beers I have had in a long while and I quite like it. Having read the very mixed reviews on this beer it looks to be a love it or hate it type and I can definitively tell why. If you like to taste something different every so often, here's your beer.

A 22 oz bomber poured into a duvel tulip. Pours a mostly clear bright orange amber. 2 finger off white head lingers a bit and leaves nice lacing as it slowly shrinks to coat the top. Aroma is very complex. Apricot, bread, grapefruit, fresh cut grass, Belgian yeast, golden raisins, and sour apples. Taste is bitter citrus up front. Grapefruit and pine resin. It quickly moves towards a bready, sweet candi, yeasty flavor. Pretty much a perfect fusion of the styles. Mouthfeel is medium and finish is dry. Excellent beer.

Looks promising in the beginning with a lemon, orange color and rich frothy head. Then the head completely disappears leaving and clear liquid with no lacing. Very disappointing.

Smell is the best part with pine and citrus hop notes, yeast and light malt.

First sip is excellent with fresh pine and citrus flavors, candied sugar, fresh yeast and bready malt. After a few sips the hops get rough with a medicinal character. Its like each sip builds on itself to create an undesirable beer. Ruins the balance too.

Medium bodied and coarse, grainy texture. Drying.

There are better Belgian IPA's out there.

22oz bomber served in an oversized wineglass.

pours a slightly hazy golden amber tone with two fingers of an off-white/beige head that impresses with both its retention and lacing.

nose is aromatic and wild. bold hoppy notes (citrus), spice, bubblegum, banana, sweet, candy-like malt, and maybe a touch of pepper. flavor mostly follows the aroma, though i pick up on a stronger presence of floral hops and a bit more booze as it warms. finish is bitter. to be sure, le freak is an interesting, tasty brew. doubt this would be something i would turn to on a regular basis, but enjoyable nonetheless - especially in small doses; if you're looking for a change of pace i would definitely recommend it.

has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel with about average carbonation. so-so drinkability: not bad, but personally i'll be set with a glass.

This beer poured a golden hazy color with a full foam head. The aroma was that of floral hoppiness with a citrus undertone. Upon my first sip I instantly loved this beer. Mild hop flavor hidden by the sweet spiciness of the triple. The beer finished with a nice hint of lemon. I highly recommend this beer as a truly wonderful experience.

A - A clear golden color, with 3 fingers of head and a huge sticky lace all over the glass

S - Belgian yeast strain and candy sugar all over the place

T - A very tasty mix of an IPA and belgian style. A huge hoppy bitter aftertaste.

M - Medium bodied. Well balanced.

O - A damn good beer! A trippel mixed with a Double IPA? Nice!
