glass: Tulip

a: Hazy orange/melon color with a foamy 3+ finger head, lots, LOTS of small bubbles rushing to the top.

s: Lots of soft, bright fruit on the nose, apricot, peach, lemon. Soft cracker aroma underneath. Overtones of lemon peal, peppercorn and floral hops.

t: A lot of those characteristics translate to the taste, soft fruit but a noticeable banana and clove flavor is present along with the signature "funk" which comes off to me like some malt liquors would taste like. Finishes a bit bitter, with lemon peel and some dryness and floral hops.

m: medium-bodied with high carbonation

o: A bit to carbonated but overall nice.

Tap @ O'Brien's. Pours bright hazy gold with a pillowy white head. Good lacing. Fresh orange peel and coriander nose, with lots of spice and ginger. Yeasty big time. Taste was zesty, lots of orange and orange peel. Tangy peach/apricot bite, almost sour. Very tart and dry. Some have been saying Granny Smith, but to me it was more sour apricot candy with a bitter end. Very easy going down. Liked it.

Bright and clear golden. Little to no lacing down the glass.

Wonderfully aromatic beer. Floral, hoppy, spicy, and a tad funky. Very complete saison aroma, and this one seems particularly bright and aromatic.

Not quite as funky in flavor as I may have expected from the aroma, but still a decidedly good saison. Bright floral and hop elements combine for a wonderful drink, though it seems to drink much heavier than a 4.5% ABV beer. Seems far more substantial than the alcohol content would have me believe.

Medium bodied, but a touch heavy and thick in the mouth. I find myself drinking this one slowly.

A bright, floral, hoppy saison.

Slightly hazed beautiful golden billowing white head, right off the bat as the lacing settles I get citrus, spicy yeast, and a slight peppery hint. Diving right into flavor, spiced mild citric notes with a mild Belgian yeast chalky/spiced character. More citrus comes out with each sip, a bit of mellow West Coast hops in the back end help it out, very drinkable more fruit esters super enjoyable Summer Saison. Mouthfeel is smooth sturdy carbonation carries the body well, nothing becomes rough or stagnant on the palate between sips other than a touch of lingering Belgian yeast spiciness. Overall a solid summer beer that I will reach for especially when it's only 4.5% abv and available in the summer heat prior to a ball game.

Bold taste, good saison. Mildly funky aroma with spice. Above average mouthfeel, bitterness accompanies the ginger, orange and spice. More of a sipper than an after mowing lawn beer, but very good with a mulicoursed meal. Grapefruit coloured body, with retained three-eights of an inch head.

Went up to the new brewery and picked up a growler of this...pours a brilliant straw gold with a silky white head that leaves plenty of rings around the glass. Even after it's been sitting for awhile there's still head on it! Aromas of tart orange, lemon, some faint belgian esters of clove. The taste mirrors the aroma with lots of citric flavors, and an element of tangy, tartness. Some spice comes through towards the end, along with dryness. It gets a little puckering once the glass warms up. This is a very well attenuated beer with a light body, and a dry finish, which is exactly what a great saison should be. Overall, highly drinkable and refreshing...I like how its only 4.3%, seems there aren't many Belgian's out there with this much character at a lower ABV. Another great job by GF.

Straw yellow with nice large bubbles, fizzy head that builds nicely then diminishes to a slight lace

Lemon, belgian yeasty funk, grass and a touch of honey and coriander.

Slightly funked, clove and ginger are present, but there is a nice lemon overtone.

Light and refreshing- great summer ale. There is great carbonation fuzz that keeps your mouth happy.

Pours an effervescent gold with a pinky of ivory colored head. Great head retention & pretty good lacing

S: Grassyness & mown hay, white pepper, plus grainyness

T: Follows the nose, a slight bit of yeasty twang, some lemony & a touch of band-aids up front. I do pick up some orange peels once this warms along with grainy notes, a touch of grains of paradise too & bit of grapefruit bitterness. Finishes grassy, crisp & with some serious bitterness derived from the orange peels

MF: Light/medium bodied, crisp carbonation

On the low end if the ABV scale, but probably more in line with what Belgian farmers were brewing & giving to their farm hands I'm sure, Very drinkable, but not terribly interesting

Poured from a 22 oz. bomber into a New Belgium globe glass. Pours a golden hazed yellow with a thick and rather resilient cap of white foam. Looks good, and offers solid lacing throughout the glass.

Nose of light lemon and a bit of spice, yet pretty solid through the foam. Touch of Belgian-esque yeast is everpresent in a good way.

Flavor is bit muted however and offers a short finish. Decent but short and in fact a bit of a letdown given the pour. Pleasant nonetheless though lacking a bit in body for the style.

Overall a solid offering that might benefit from a bit more residual malt..

Poured into my ever-trusty Zatec fluted glass from a 22oz bottle. Nice 2 fingers of spongy head with decent retention and average lacing. Nice cloudy golden color. Smells a bit citrusy and corianderish, more like a Belgian white than a Saison in my opinion. Flavor is similar. Definitely leaning toward the Belgian white. Mouthfeel is medium carbonation, slightly creamy. Refreshing, imminently drinkable. A little skewed from style, but definitely achieves what a Saison should. Another winner from Green Flash.

(had this on draught at the brewery in Vista). Pours golden with thick white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is grassy, hay, spices. Taste is semi-sweet with some dry bitterness. Light bodied with thin and oily texture. Finish is bitter. This was ok, but I could see having it when it warms up here in Arizona and I'm in the mood for a saison.

Pours with a nice head and a clear lighter gold color. Pungent with tones of oranges, spices, citrus tones and even some floral tones. Lighter on the palate, but not lacking at all. Smooth with more prominent spices. This is a real good domestic saison

Pours a hazy straw color with a tight, fizzy white head that leaves little bits of lacing.

Smells of a bit of citrus and spiciness.

Tastes of some pretty mild fruit notes with a spiciness on the back end. Citrus and a bit of sour apple make up the fruits. A touch of grainy sweetness adds in the middle. On the end notes of coriander, white pepper, and some earthy notes.

Mouthfeel is medium with a crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, I find it to be quite a good saison, but I wish the price was a little less.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass. A summer beer in the winter months but found this bottle noodling around in the back of a shelf as I was looking for a nice beer to go with roast chicken. Beer is a hazy pale golden color with two fingers of bright white foamy head. Head dissipates slowly, leaving some thick lacing along the inside of the glass, until a half finger collar of bubbly foam remain. Tons of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass.

Nose is a light grains and biscuit malt, some light floral and citrus aromas and some fruity esters that remind me of green grapes and white peaches. Mild aromas overall.

Taking a sip, stronger floral and citrus flavors accompany the biscuit malts and fruity esters. Decently refreshing beer, finishing dry on the tongue with only light lingering floral flavors on the tongue.

Light body and effervescent, carbonation softly sweeps your tongue clean and dry. Easy drinking and refreshing saison.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a light amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that quickly died down leaving some lacing on the surface in the center of the glass and a ring of bubbles around the edge.
S: The smell is mostly filled with aromas of orange peel and has notes of spices (from the grains of paradise) and hints of grassy hops.
T: The taste has an interesting contrast between initial flavors of oranges and fruity yeast (with hints of grainy malts) and then a light amount of bitterness and spiciness in the finish.
M: It feels relatively light-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There are some hints of dryness in the finish.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and has some refreshing properties. It would be a good choice for a hot summer day.
