Poured into a shaker pint at Mellow Mushroom.
Thick and dark as used oil, this stuff is an intimidating pitch black. It’s topped with one finger of silky graham cracker head that becomes a thin top layer that grips the glass in full sheets.
The aroma is a enticing blend of cocoa, coffee, toast and peanuts. Each sniff reveals a solid new notes: vanilla, molasses and more. Soft sweetness; great roast character.
Bigger molasses and anise in the flavor, paired with equally forceful burnt toast and charcoal. A creamy blend of dark chocolate, cream and vanilla bean adds just enough sweetness.
The body’s a creamy medium, nice and velvety. Carbonation is a little high and prickly, breaking the beer into too much fizz. Some heat appears on the tongue, with accompanying warmth on the way down the throat.
Nice. Green Flash’s Double Stout is a little heavy, but I dig the flavor.
