Bottled on 05/22/12

A: Pours a pitch black color with a fingers worth of brown head that retains well

S: Very roasty, with notes of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Malt bomb

T: Again, nice roasty malts with big hints of anise, chocolate, coffee, and a little smoke as well. Some light hops add a little bitterness, but overall this is a definite malt bomb. Alcohol is hidden extremely well

M: Full bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Smooth

O: A great example of the style, the complexity really shines and shows off the malts very well. Dangerously easy to drink, too. A must try for fans of the style

11 ounce pour - $5.75 at Taco Mac in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Black, inky body with a frothy, long-lived, dirtied beige head. It's an appearance we desire, nay, demand from our stouts.

Smell: Roasty malted barley with a little tinge of burnt grain to it. Chocolate shavings come forward ahead of the notes of dark fruits. Heavy toast, pinch of peppercorns.

Taste: Chocolate in a fling with roasted maltiness. Light touch of dark fruits (black cherry, raisin). Then, some lightly peppery, lowly citrusy, earthy hops with enough bitterness to shore up the initial roastiness. Rebounded pop of sugar sweetness midway, then, more of the choco-roast until the semi-dry, pillowy soft finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Recommended. A solidly malty, quality brew.

Pours a black color. One inch head of a tan color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, slight oatmeal, slight yeast, and hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a slight dryness. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, hint of hops, oatmeal, hint of alcohol, hint of earthy malt, and hint of yeast. Overall, great appearance, good aroma, body, and blend.
