Color is great, nice mocha head. Smell is just pure citra hops, taste is way too hoppy for a stout. Not sure what they were thinking with this one. Drain pour

Poured into a tulip/wine glass

A - Deep dark chocolate molasses, two finger very deep tan head and some sticky lacing.

S - chocolate, ripe berries, rich coffee, quite grainy, molasses, huge malt, simple biscuit yeast, soil, wet wood, cake batter, nice booze and baked good baking in the oven

T - chocolate, berries, cake, very acidic coffee, fresh soil, fresh cut trees, light booze, cinnamon and more chocolate.

M - Full bodied, well balanced, nice complexity, very acidic and a very nice bitter to sweet chocolaty finish!

D/O - Goes down like 'butta'. Very easy to drink, tons of flavor, right amount of booze and an all year long drinker.

Final Thoughts - $10 for a 4 pack pisses me off, but the 8.8% abv is awesome.

Black. Opaque. Brown head. Smell and taste of roasted goodness. Malt, chocolate, and coffee. I love every bit of this, from the pour to the bitter aftertaste. I will get it again.

This is a really nice stout.

Dark black color, with a persistent, thick mocha head.

Beautiful stout taste, milder than I'd expected, kind of like a milk stout. Perfectly balanced. This beer has great integrity.

Rich mouthfeel. Long finish, after the mild taste, some bitterness expresses itself quietly.

Appearance - Pours a dark chocolate brown with a finger of frothy mocha head.

Smell - roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits, coffee bean, earthy hops, smokiness.

Taste - Bold bitter flavours of roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, earthy hops, oats, and slight smokiness.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant lingering bitterness from the malts and cocoa.

Overall - A unique Imperial stout. The hint of smoke adds another level of complexity to the overall boldness of this brew. Worth seeking out if you are seeking an out of the norm Imperial stout.

12oz bottle poured into snifter. Pours an opaque oil black. Cream colored crown with ring of carbonation bubbles around circumference of glass. Not much lacing. Coffee in the scent, but aroma is light with a hint of smoke. Feel is not as heavy as I expected. Coffee taste is muted (like the scent) and roasted malt comes through. Just enough hop bitterness to finish each sip. Got better with each sip. (8.5)
