Presentation: 12oz stubby brown bottle, nice simple label, NO DATE (ugh)
Appearance: Into my Sam Adams Perfect Pint. This pours a dark gold/light orange amber with an ivory head of large bubbles. There isn't much of a cap, but it has fairly decent retention.
Smell: Quite nice; some light juicy citrus and a whole lotta pine! Fresh, vibrant, juicy, and just a HINT of earthy malt, but you really have to look for it. Pleasant!
Taste: Massive bitterness hits almost immediately. Earthy pine, a bit of bitter citrus peel, and as it warms, a bit of earthy malt. Big, BIG bitterness. I dunno the exact bitterness, but the GF website lists it as 100+ and I have NO trouble believing that. There's enough of a malt backbone and sweetness, however, that although this is blisteringly bitter, it doesn't really feel 'overdone' or completely out of whack like some other tongue-destroying DIPAs.
Mouthfeel: Rich and full, blisteringly bitter, but enough residual sweetness to make things seem balanced...at least in a manner of speaking.
Conclusion: I'm not a HUGE fan of DIPAs, though there are a few I really like. This is, however, one of the better ones I've had. Crazy-big bitterness, but nice flavors to go with bitter smackdown, and enough malt sweetness to keep this from being completely one-sided. Nice mouthfeel and good drinkability, especially considering its gravity. $12.00 for a 4pk isn't too bad either. Now if only we could get a freakin date-stamp on it...This might well be an A- if it had just a bit more complexity.

Had on draft at the brewery earlier this year, and found in bottle locally. If youre a fan of hops, this is your beer. It is on the pricier side, but well worth it. It is a beer to drink slowly and enjoy. For my first BA rating/review, what better beer to give such high marks. Amazing aroma and a delicious bite! Fantastic!
