12 oz bottle poured into a snifter at cellar temperature.
L – Medium amber color with a 2-finger frothy, somewhat rocky, cream-colored head. Nice retention but not much lacing. Crystal clear with lots of bubbles.
S – This is one of the best hop bouquets that I’ve smelled in a while. I’m getting a blast of grapefruit, orange, peach, mango, and resinous pine. If I try hard, I can get some bready and caramel malt, but this one is very hop-forward. I can only hope that the taste is this delectable.
T – This tastes awesome. Caramel malt sweetness appears up front for just a second before the bitter blast of hops comes through. Bittersweet grapefruit, orange, and peach appear first, followed by the classic “oniony” twang of Summit hops, and finally more grapefruit, mango, and pine round out the finish. Again, the hop profile is terrific.
F – Medium-to-full-bodied with good carbonation, a sticky, chewy, and mouth-coating feel, and a very bitter and dry finish. Bitter grapefruit and pine hops linger on the palate and tongue for a long time.
O – This is an awesome DIPA. It’s not very balanced between the malt and the hops, but it’s not meant to be – after all, the name is Palate Wrecker. While it’s not quite blisteringly bitter enough to truly wreck my palate, it comes dangerously and wonderfully close. Especially as I’m getting toward the end of my glass, the bitterness builds and builds with each sip that I take. I’ve been hearing raves about this beer for a while and I’m so glad that I finally got to try it. It’s insanely drinkable for a beer this bitter that clocks in a nearly 10% ABV. On top of all of that, it’s downright delicious. I’m going to be on the lookout for more from Green Flash. They have a winner here.

Served in a large (15.5 oz) brandy snifter.
A - Pours a dark amber color with a half-finger of head that mostly dissipated except for a thin film over the beer and around the edges. A small amount of white, sticky lacing remains throughout.
S - A big bouquet of citrus, floral, and resinous hops, as well as a touch of brown sugar.
T - Citrus hops up front lend way to a slightly sweet, malty body, with strong notes of resin coming through after, which is definitely the highlight here for me. The taste is most reminiscent of a barleywine. However, there's no alcohol burn or alcohol presence at all really, which is surprising given its 9.5% content. Finishes slightly bitter with a subtle sweetness.
M - Smooth without almost no carbonation burn; almost creamy. Very good.
O - This is an excellent beer that I am very happy to have picked up on a whim. I've had their West Coast IPA before; this seemed less bitter, but I didn't realize until after I bought it that it's also an old bottle (1/8/13). However, that didn't seem to matter, as the hops don't seem to have faded but rather melded nicely with the rest of the beer. I'd like to try this fresh as well for comparison. Definitely worth a try, and I'll be getting this again.

Wow what a beer!
Beer is a clear orangey color, there's about 3-4 fingers of head, you get this garlic/onion smell along with grapefruit and as soon as it hits your tongue, it's just an explosion of hop bitterness, somewhat malty in the middle and finishes super dry.
Easily drinkable for a DIPA fanatic like myself, all others beware, this is not a beer to be trifled with if you don't know what to expect let alone if you don't like other DIPAs. This beer is just insane and it's so good. Great brew from GreenFlash.
