Best Before 7/22/14
Appearance: Color is a amber red, burnt orange color. Bubbly head of about a finger and a half which subsided but was present while drinking. Average to above average active carbonation in glass. Lots of thick sticky lacing left behind at each level.
Smell: Great balance of sweet hops and heavy pine bitterness. The two play off each other very well and bring out the best in each other. Tropical fruity body adds a ton of depth to this brew. Semi-sweet malt body meshes in well with everything else going on. Love this aroma.
Taste: The front as expected is some big pine bitterness which runs through to the body as well but is kept in check. Medium bodied fruits with accents of tangerines, grapefruit, and melon is picked up on the body. Lingering bitterness carries through the body and into the finish giving off a potent yet pleasant pine, resin, and prairie grass flavor.
Mouthfeel: Sweetness is felt on the palate through the big bitterness that rings throughout. Carbonation is well done, there but does not interfere with the flavors.
Overall: The first IPA that I've had from Green Flash that I really loved. No doubt a big bitter IPA, but plenty of fruity hops are picked up to make it more then a bitter bomb. Aromatically wonderful, I could live inside my glass.
