22oz bottle. It will be interesting to see how this one really differentiates itself from the 'regular' ol' Green Flash Imperial IPA.

This beer pours a glassy, medium brassy amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, bubbly, and loosely foamy off-white head, which leaves some layered, bleeding runic script lace around the glass as things duly sink away.

It smells of bitter pine resin, sharp, oily orange, grapefruit, and lemon rind, bready caramel malt, a suppressed toffee sweetness, and further leafy, floral, and low-fi on the perfume hops. The taste is actually more malty up front than I might have been led to believe - rather sweet (but agreeably so) pastry-quality caramel and toffee, bready pudding, all getting their ya-yas out before that still heady pine needle, leafy things you don't fuck with on the mountain path, mild dank florals, and a few other nameless, but still astringent flora esters come 'a knockin'. Yer big-ass ABV is like a bomb-diffuser - a bit sweaty, but steady, and cool as a freaking cucumber from your bystander perspective.

The bubbles are fairly laid-back, just a nice lilting frothiness throughout, the body a sturdy medium-heavy weight, and more smooth than you would think, with all those trouble-making kids, er, I mean hops, lurking about, and even a tad creamy at times. It finishes well off-dry, the malt component not about to let us think it doesn't have a say here, keeping things just as they've been thus far - no more, no less.

When I consider the term 'Palate Wrecker', a few items come to mind - one, so bitterly hoppy that your tastebuds suddenly decide to take a few days off, and two, the effect renders all others around it unworthy of the memory of the beer in play here, i.e. don't pour me another brew - I just had my palate wrecked! I don't believe that this actually falls into either category - it's just another well-made, stupidly drinkable, hedonistic example of the upper echelon of malt and hop interplay. There, I said it. Now Imma gonna go have another beer, my palate actually the one encouraging me as such.

Clear bright orange, good initial head with trails of lace.

Piney, bready aroma.

Pine, bread, caramel, orange rind, apricot, with a sweet, then dank finish. Quite flavorful.

Mouthfeel slick and viscous.

One of these is just about right, as the name implies, more than that would wear on me I think. Clearly a lot going on here, but balanced enough that it's enjoyable.
