12oz bottle purchased at Huckleberry’s in Spokane for $3.29. There seems to be some sort of freshness date stamped below the label. Unfortunately, it is illegible.

Poured a slightly hazy, dark amber color, with a big, creamy beige head.

Grapefruity hops are in the nose, though not in as much force as I imagined from something called Palate Wrecker. Maybe this has been sitting for a while. Damn that unreadable date! There’s some biscuity malts as well.

The hop flavor is bigger on the tastebuds than in the nose. Definitely more of the grapefruity, citrusy hop variety. I actually found myself wishing for more of a piney, bitter flavor. There’s a bit more sweetness than I was expecting as well.

Upper-medium bodied, with a coating, sticky mouthfeel.

This is one of those DIPAs that are like high-octane tropical fruit juice. While considerably more drinkable than some of that leaning (Hop Juice, I’m looking at you), this isn’t entirely my cup of tea. My first beer from Green Flash that didn’t completely wow me.

poured from a 12oz bottle into a Fullers ESB goblet. Bottling date was 02/25/13, so beer is over 5 months old.

Poured a slightly hazy copper coloring, with a little less than an inch of clean white head. Head eventually diminished to a covering, and toward the end, simply a ring around the glass. Lacing was initially good, but did drop down the glass quite quickly.

Nose was all about sweet fruity hops, and a faint wiff of booze background.

Taste, well, if this is 5 months along, I've gotta get me some fresh off the line. Reminded me somewhat of Nugget Nectar. Nice big hop taste, but not overpowering, so balance must be extremely good. I'm loving this.

Mouth was on the light side of heavy, a slightly syrupy feel to it as I rolled it around the tongue. A nice slow burn on the roof of the mouth betrayed the high alcohol presence, but certainly not harsh or jarring.

Overall, about the best double IPA I've tried. Would be interesting to stand it up against one a month old to see if, when fresh, the hops overpower all. Definitely recommended, and certainly stands up well alongside it's slightly weaker brother, West Coast IPA.

A-tangerine with a thick white head that lasts a long time and leaves some amazingly thick lacing and also some cascading. Beautiful beer.

S-grapefruit peaches, citrus, and hops

T-bitter and bold, citrus and just a hint of pine, definitely grapefruit and a lingering hop bitterness. This is one intense beer.

M-Thick and chewy

D-To me this has a low drinkability its very, very heavy and full flavored. Its not as light as other versions of the style, it really weighs you down.

Overall, this is a good double ipa but not my favorite. I would love to try it on tap sometime.
