Had on draft at the brewery earlier this year, and found in bottle locally. If youre a fan of hops, this is your beer. It is on the pricier side, but well worth it. It is a beer to drink slowly and enjoy. For my first BA rating/review, what better beer to give such high marks. Amazing aroma and a delicious bite! Fantastic! (324 characters)

Wow this is a nice beer. Hints of honey and lots of hops. Similar to hopslam but I might actually like this better. Too bad its $15.99 for a 4-pack near me. definitely worth it for a treat once in awhile. If you have not tried this I definitely recommend it. (258 characters)

A-nice dark amber with a thick cream colored head

S-a lot of hops. Wow. Fresh strong slightly citrusy hops. Wow.

T-it comes in with a burst of hops I'm not sure ive experienced before. In and out it's an explosion of bitterness and fresh citrusy hops. No off flavors. Man this is awesome.

M-medium creamy carbonation. Bitter in and out. Perfect.

O- There is nothing wrong with this beer!! It is exactly how an ipa ought to be. The flavor is so rich and strong and enjoyable. I got to find more of this!  (513 characters)

Presentation: Poured into a snifter glass from a growler purchased at Green's in Columbia, SC off Piney Grove!

A: Nice thick off white head with heavy lacing. Deep amber color with a slight haze.

S: Pine needles, fresh cut forestry. Some citrus.

T&M: Well-ballanced up front. Piney, citrusy and then the hop bitterness begins to unleash. Little to no alcohol burn. Medium bodied and very drinkable.

This is so good! Definitely the top of the heap for DIPA's. Palate numbing bitterness is definitely appropriate. (516 characters)

I am generally not a fan of the HUGE in your face IPA but this is probably the most balanced "BIG" beer on the market. You can actually taste the malts, and enjoy the hoppy bitterness. Isn't an alcohol bomb either, nice and smooth for a beer nearing 10% ABV. I will be having this one again! (291 characters)

The best Green Flash beer I have tried so far.

Pours out a really nice bright, hazy orange with hints of amber and a nice fluffy white head.

The aroma is full of grapefruit, mango, pineapple and other fruity and floral hop scents. Very heavy on the tropical fruit with no malt detected.

The taste is very close to the aroma. There is a ton of intense fruity and floral hop flavor with a slight hint of malt sweetness in the background. It's very bitter, dry and finishes crisp.

The alcohol is hidden very well and this is very easy to drink. A great Imperial IPA. (570 characters)

This is another Green Flash that must come from 22 or tap. In this case, 22 into tulip. Deep orange color with a very beige, off white (what, eggshell?) head that compacts to half finger and holds. The aroma is big citrus with some resinous stuff in there for good measure. The flavor is just a deep and sustained citrus hit that gets an add on of earthy pine across the palate, with a nice Simcoe bitter hit to round out the pine in the finish. This is a top-shelf DIPA/IIPA, especially when you need sticky hoppy. (515 characters)

Very Special Beer Review.

Poured into a tulip. 1 inch of frothy oily head. Dissipates over 5 draughts into a persistent one bubble layer. Persistent and clinging lacing remains to beyond the end.

Smells like apricot jam and hops, and hops, and hops. Shellac, pine, poison oak, salty-sand, freshly sawed open oak.

Mouthfeel is thick, bitter, malt sweetness, then how much alcohol question is eclipsed by bitterness bombs of hop explosion. Moderate carbonation bubbles through a thick malty sweetness. The thick malty sweetness is overdriven by the hop resins and synthesized into a West Coast IPA idealism. Through this turn of events the malty alcoholic sweetness and dirty dish rag IPA beginnings unfold into a full-on hop-head delight which opens up upon airing and warming bringing into to sharp relief a panoply of hoppy delights layered one upon the other. Drinkable. Obviously and dangerously more drinkable than cheap lager.

Flavor is bitter burlap sack at first, then malty sweetness, then briefly the alcohol shock, but moves on into hop domination territories. Wood, cured older wood, pine-sap, fresh plywood, grapefruit, freshly mowed lawn, mountain spring water (yes some sort of intense clean soft water effect!), pickle, pepper, poppy seeds, citrus rinds, bitter marmalade.

After-taste is pleasant for bitter hop lovers. Intense, slightly metallic, leathery, and bright. From a couple of inches forward of the tonsils and back down is almost numb. I just drank three bottles of this.

Overall, I've got to say that this beer really opened up as it warmed during drinking and revealed a variety of hop decoction characters of the highest quality. Stunning. I would like to compare this side-by-side with similar styles one day. (1,745 characters)

Pours glowing peach with a dense, pillowy white head that lasts forever. Enormous patches of laces stick to the glass on the way down. Hops fill the air when I pop the cap of the beer, huge citrus and orange hop flavors and some pine and cookie dough in the background. The taste is immensely hoppy with an immediate mouthcoating intense bitterness that pervades the whole glass. Grapefruit and lemon notes mix with a resinous pine bitterness. The timid malt profile is doughy and light. The mouthfeel is full bodied with a sparse carbonation - intense hop resin mouthcoating makes for a lot of numbing. The finish is infinitely long and bitter. Delicious. Alcohol isn't prominent for the strenghth and is only complimentary to the bitterness attack.

This is one of my favorite DIPAs ever. Super hoppy and also very multi-faceted. I will say it will probably put off anyone who isn't into hops, it's pretty intense. Still one of the best. Green Flash rocks. (958 characters)

Does not wreck your palate, but does turn it every which way but loose. Great example of a high IBU beer that's not harsh. High ABV is undetectable. Good stuff. (161 characters)

This is a beast of a beer. DIPAinsanity!

Pours a vibrant orange-golden color with thin foaming. The aroma is sticky sweet, with an intense resiny grapefruit oil character. And wait—is that a hint of apricot? Tangerines? Yum!

The bitterness decimates your palate, as promised, but its assertive in a way that makes you keep coming back for more. Are you in an abusive relationship with the hops? There is help out there! The flavor is intensely bitters, citrus (tangerines again), dried apricot and pine essence, with a dry sticky finish and just enough heft to coat your mouth and leave you eager for another sip. Wreck it! (627 characters)

My wife got this for me about a week ago. My friend tried it before I did and said it really was a palate wrecker.

Appearance- copper color, nice head, nice lacing

Smell- beautiful smell of hops, smells very fresh like they do before they are added to the wort, I love that smell.

Taste- very hoppy but very well balanced, tastes and smells like fresh hops into the wort, piney

Mouthfeel- medium bodied, nice carbonation

Drinkabilty- It is delicious. I love it. One of the best! The hops in there are so wonderful! (519 characters)

Pours a semi clear amber with a about 1.5 fingers of light tan head that leave a thin lacing with each sip. I smell citrus and hops that are more like pine than grass. This beer tastes great in the mouth and then it smacks you with the hops. This is not for amateur beer palates. Excellent mouthfeel for an IPA. I really love Green Flash West Coast IPA and Double Stout as as go to beers, but I will most definitely buy this for my next beer tasting. (450 characters)

Had this one on tap at St. Augistine's in Vancouver, BC. What a delicious punch to the face this is...make sure it's the last one you have though, as it is so strong you won't remember much else you had previous. The name really indicates what the beer is all about.

Delicious, and for any IPA or DIPA fan, you simply must check it out. It's like Green Flash's original IPA but twice as strong and twice as delicious. (418 characters)

A: Golden-orange with medium head and nice lacing.
S: Beautiful floral hops with lots of bright citrus and pine.
T: Amazing hop bomb with tropical fruits, herbs, and tart berries. Just a perfect, complex, west coast-style IPA.
M: Beautiful clean mouthfeel. Tingliness that come from the flavor rather than the carbonation.
O: This is one of the best west coast IPAs I've had. I love almost all of this brewer's offerings but this is really amazing. It doesn't so much wreck my palate as wreck my ability to enjoy other IPAs. (528 characters)

El Dankerino. The Big Lebrewski.
Says best by 8/11/2015

Appearance - orange amber crystal clear with nice off white head that sticks/leaves nice lacing
Smell - Dank, resinous, garlic/onion/ganja in a good way. Then the tropical fruits come in - papaya, mango, orange.
Taste - Same as smell add piney bitterness, basically perfect.
Feel - Feels like an IIPA. Alc covered.
Overall - This is one of those every time I see it reasonably fresh I buy it. On par with all the best double/imperial ipas. (498 characters)

Second time having this, but the first time was pre-reviewing. Pour is a beautiful translucent amber with nice white foam and beautiful sticky lacing. Taking a whiff gets you a noseful of piney, floral, hoppy goodness. And the flavor is like everything good about hops just exploded in your mouth. So delightful. And super easy drinking; at 9.5% I got buzzed in a hurry. I love this beer. (388 characters)

Appearance - One finger of white head. Bright beautiful deep clear orange in color. Not a whole lot of lacing

Smell - Pine, pine and more pine. Some citrus and lemon zest in there as well.

Taste - Piney with some citrus peel and then a solid lasting pine aftertaste.

Feel - Fairly carbonated, but it coats the inside of your mouth with a piney sticky film. You can taste it from the tip of your tongue to the back of your throat. Incredible.

Overall - Got lucky and got to try it on tap, but I'm definitely going to try to grab a few bottles of it too. Amazing! (565 characters)

Wow well when I swirl it around in the glass I get a huge smell of tangerines, clementines, grapefruit and pine smells. You get hit with a hoppy sweetness that quickly changes into a spicy tingly orange peel bitterness and ending with a citric bite that stays in the aftertaste and back of your tongue for a while. Even after you haven't taken a sip for a while it still tastes like you took a sip not so long ago. Its really bitter.

I heard they used the ipa wort and brewed it in with this ipa or something like that and its literally a double ipa. Its really fruity and citrusy tasting and can get some candy like fruit flavors that are very enjoyable before it turns over into the massive and growing bitterness.

The malt is there with a slight bready sweetness but the sweetness gets over taken by the hop flavors. You can tell its a big beer too a bit of alcohol burn on this one. Im also noticing it leaving a very dry parched aftertaste. Its really intense after a while and truly is a palate wrecker. (1,012 characters)

Absolutely phenomenal beer from Green Flash. This is one of those extreme brews where you might think you will share it with your dad or bro, but once you take a sip, you want it all to yourself.

It pours a light amber, similar to a spiced rum. However, this exudes hoppiness with a huge body to go with it. The fantastic part is that the body and bitterness completely hide the 9.5 ABV!

All in all, a huge hop load is well balanced and distributed from the smell to the taste.

Aaron's recommendation: Treat this like a dessert beer. The name says it all. It will wreck your palate, and you'll enjoy every second of it. (630 characters)

Pours a large light beige head that becomes rocky as it recedes. Head has good retention and leaves heavy lacing. Beer is a copper/orange/golden color. Smells of citrus, most noticably grapefruit and orange, but also with a bit of lemon. Also smells very resiny with a bit of pine. Just a hint of caramel malt.

Taste starts with hop resin, moves on to pine, ends with piney, grapefruit and orange. Has a sticky, resiny, piney, slightly caramel malty finish. Mouthfeel is just less than heavy with moderate carbonation, a little creamy/bready. I love this beer, the great hop flavors along with just the right (but very small) amount of malt. Also, some hops bombs have an oppressive aftertaste, this one does not at all. (721 characters)

Poured a transparent, deep amber with a one finger off white head. It looked quite nice. Scents of citrus, lemon, and grapefruit. Very appealing aromas. Flavor is almost entirely bitter grapefruit pith, grapefruit rind, a tiny hint of grapefruit and a bit of pine. Very little malt character, very much a hop forward beer. Mouthfeel was medium bodied, with low carbonation. The beer hid it's alcohol content quite well. An excellent hop forward beer, pure citrus and bitterness, probably one of the best west coast DIPAs I've tasted. (533 characters)

dark, slightly cloudy orange with a thin creamy head that sticks around. smells like a pine cone covered in fresh yard trimmings. amazing nose. the taste is exactly as advertised on the bottle; palate wrecker. intensely bitter hop (centennial/columbus/simcoe) combo with a decent malt core, and some grapefruit rind and onion peel flavors rounding it out. the onion takes on a slight garlic as it warms. like stone's ruination ipa, take the brew's name advertisement seriously. =) (487 characters)

Bronze with an off-white head, bit of retention, some lace.

Huge aroma of pine, grapefruit rind, dried mango, candied pineapple and sponge toffee.

Assertive bitterness, piny resin, grapefruit rind, mango, papaya, sponge toffee, hint of biscuit, some alcohol warmth but it's surprisingly clouded by the plethora of flavour.

Perfect attenuation. It has a crisp, dry finish without any alcohol burn. Plenty of hop acidity.

Overall, a really great brew. Definitely among the best of the DIPA's.

I really need to try this back-to-back with a Pliny the Elder. (559 characters)
