Notes / Commercial Description:
Formerly Hop Odyssey: 30th Street Pale Ale

Hop-forward and San Diego inspired, this is our brewers’ homage to their local craft beer corridor. Uniquely floral and fruity notes from Warrior, Cascade and El Dorado hops mingle with a hint of crystal malt to build flavors of melon and a lingering grassy bitterness. Well-bittered and dry-hopped, 30th Street is a Pale Ale bold enough to suit the palates of hop heads in the land of sunshine and IPA.

Look: Transparent honey copper with a white head. Mild activity with some sediment floating throughout.

Smell: Grassy citrus, grapefruit zest, lemon rind, and malt. Smell is subtle.

Taste: Piney hops on the attack with complementary floral notes. Malt shines through for just bit before piney bitter rounds the beer out.

Feel: Medium bodied with lingering bitterness throughout. No alcohol.

Overall: The definition of a west coast pale ale. Hoppy yet incredibly drinkable. Great for any occasion and always a solid pick up.

Real solid APA, could even be classified as an IPA. Pours a hazy orange with a big, frothy long lasting head. Thick bands of lacing on the glass. Looks good. Aroma is citrus/tropical fruit hops and some sweet bready malt. Taste is very good. Strong hoppy presence balanced by rich bready malt. Mouthfeel is rich for the style and crisp. Very good level of bitterness. As an IPA it would be middle of the road. As an APA it is very good!!!

12oz. bottle served in a nonic. Best by 01 Dec 15 printed on the label (yikes). Pours a dull copper hue with a translucent clarity and a loose, quarter inch, off-white head that quickly recedes into a soapy slick. Nose is fairly subdued - some piney and spicy notes. Taste expresses caramel, wet cardboard and a light piney/herbal quality. Mouthfeel is light-medium in body with a mild, even, carbonation and a trace of oiliness. Overall, not bad - probably past its prime. I definitely need to revisit with a fresher sample.

Overall an ok beer that I would drink again, but would not go searching for it.

22 oz. Bomber

Pours a very nice clean/clear dark golden yellow color, very nice carbonation, with a pretty nice small creamy off-white head, which leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with a slight malt note, citrusy. The taste is very nice hoppy, slightly malty, with a very nice citrus note. Medium body, with a very nice bitter/dry finish. Overall, this is a very tasty APA for the ABV. Recommended!

Mostly yellow, slight pithy orange, almost a full inch of white head. Aroma, given warrior, cascade, el dorado, not the most pungent for aroma although they have exceptional roles in taste and mouthfeel.

And those are solid, citrus and grapefruit, nice light pale toasted malt, dry finish. The bitterness was nothing to sneeze at but didn't dominate the mouthfeel. Good stuff, I bought another 6 pack once they went to 12oz bottles after having it on tap first.

Not the style pale ale I prefer at all. Smell and flavors taste old. Best before Feb 2016 and drinking in Dec 2015 so it can't be old can it? Just tastes like the old /sup par shelf turd hoppy beers I recall from 5-10 years ago. Not on board with this.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle.Sampled on November 21, 2015.

The color is orange amber under a huge lingering white head..

The caramel malt sweetness is fairly evident with vague grassy notes and peat moss.

Medium body.

There is a toasted but at the same time creamy malt sweetness. The bitterness is mild at the end and pleasant.

Faint aroma but hops kick in at the taste with a vengeance. Nice high fluffy head. Dry and bitter finish. Another superb outing from Green Flash, always a pleasure.

L- Clear vibrant copper body with low visible carbonation. Fluffy white head with nice persistence.
S- Floral hops, grapefruit, pineapple and orange.
T- Piney floral hops, orange rind and grapefruit, leads to sweet malts and ends in a bitter aftertaste.
F- Medium, good.
O- Very nice APA, almost jumping into IPA territory.

Pours a copper color with almost two fingers of head. The nose is pleasantly hoppy. The hoppy finish is obviously the highlight of this offering but the malt/hop balance that I expect in an APA is not there at all.

The tagline for this beer is "an IPA on any other street." This, I think, represents a wrong-headed view toward APAs. APAs are NOT the weak sister of IPAs. APA is a style of its own and balance is a key feature of that style. If Green Flash wanted to make another IPA, they should have just gone all the way and done exactly that..

Poured from 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Clear, copper/gold with a moderate but sturdy cap of off-white foam.
Aroma-Fruity hops
Taste-Loads of tasty, fruity hops, nice crystal malt note provides excellent balance. Overall, great flavor and character, more like a classic West Coast IPA. Very solid and tasty.

Just a solid APA. If you rate this for what it is, a session APA, you have to give it its due. Lots of floral and citrus hops, with a nice malt backbone. Dry finish, not too bitter, not too malty. Great beer from Green Flash, as usual

this is a very good pale ale. not on par with grunion or fist city, but it strikes a great balance with a little sweetness from the malts, and a heap of hops to make this super drinkable.

Best by Jan 24, 2016

Pours a light fizzy bubbly head that fades at a med to slower pace, decent lacing, very hazy carrot orange color.

Nose starts with mild piney floral notes, a citrus peel, candied orange, hint piney and some zest, a candy sweet malt, caramel like candy, touch earthy.

Taste brings sweet malts at first, a little caramel candy malt, but quickly into hops, earthy spicy hops, floral and a little earthy, mild fruity candied stone fruit and a little orange peel zest, candied orange marmalade, tangy like, turns fairly spicy and quite bitter. Finish is drier but a little sweet sticky like, but mostly dry, actually it really dries off and gets pretty bitter, a little spicy bitterness, lingering candied orange zest and floral spicy hops.

Mouth is a bit heavier than typical med bod, little sweet, nice fluffy carb.

Overall this is quite a nice APA, I feel like most people are expecting an IPA so thye rated it a bit lower, but it's quite tasty and enjoyable. Nice hop character, great malt to hop balance feels like sticky but never really gets sticky or too sweet, nice bitterness that really comes through at a great level, malts don't get in the way either, and hops play a nice role all around. Wouldn't mind a few pints of this at the bar.

Look: classic APA, golden amber, with 2+ fingers of off-white head.

Smell: floral notes from the hops, with a subtle toffee aroma from the malt. Really nice.

Taste: the hop profile is pleasant, but the Crystal malt is what sets this apart. Really nice flavors, very balanced.

Feel: some oily qualities from the hops, but the Crystal malt keeps everything in balance.

Overall: if I had regular access to this, it would always be in my beer fridge. A great representation of the style.

12oz picked up in a recent Julio's mix-a-six. Always nice to try a new Green Flash beer. Best by date reads Jan 24th, 2016.

A - Poured to a pint glass. Kind of a darkish copper color with a big ol off-white head to start things off. A mostly full cap and thick ring remain by the end. Pretty nice lace left.

S - Floral hops are probably the most prevalent, kind of a peaches-n-cream thing going on, general all-around citrus with a pretty prominent sweet malt backbone.

T - Hop profile expands a little bit here with some earthiness, grass and grapefruit. Still very much in the realm of floral and peachy hoppage. Toffee malt quite noticeable too but not as major as it was in the scent.

M - Fine feel, good clean body with medium-low carbonation. Light to medium bitterness, definitely a bit on the malty side but pretty proper for a pale. No perceptible alcohol and quite drinkable.

O - It actually feels like a pale ale (not crazy hoppy, well-balanced, lightish) which I appreciate, interesting if kinda plainish hop profile and nice toffee malt flavors mingling in there. Good stuff.

I love APAs and loved this. APAs (like this and Dales are the best for me)

A Pours a honey color w a 3 finger head which resolved slowly and laces well.

S The aroma solid grassy, balanced malt, hops and mild fruit.

T: Lots of tropical fruit. The hops render a tangy grapefruit, citrus
and tropical fruit finishing in an oily, grassy, hoppy bitterness. What balance!

O: a great pale ale- hoppy, fresh, never over done, always balanced, want another.

Try this against Green Flash Soul Style and Dales Pale Ale.

I made an account just to strongly disagree with the guy below me. Not only is this a great pale ale, but everything Green Flash I've tried has met my high expectations for beers. The 30th street isn't their best but is up there with the classic Sierra Nevada pale ale. Deserving of its current 87 score though.

Extremely unimpressive, this is the last green flash product I'll ever buy.ive given them plenty of chances but other than palate wrecker and green bullet every other beer they make and try to come out with is just not worth my liver or my money.i highly suggest others do the same.extremely over rated brewery.

Poured a honey color in a Stone Imperial Pint glass: 3F head which resolved in a few minutes.

The aroma isn't strong: mild fruit.

Taste: excellent. Lots of tropical fruit. The hops in this beer brew a tangy grapefruit, citrus
and tropical fruit mix finished by a solid hoppy bitterness.

Overall: a very enjoyable pale ale- as the label says- it could be an IPA on another street.
I especially like the tropical fruit.

I drank a Green Flash Soul Style last night. I prefer this "pale ale" more- interesting fruit, and a better hoppy finish. T

As the label states, this is an IPA by another name. Bold, hoppy aroma and enough bitterness to think this one is an IPA over a traditional pale ale. Reviewing as such, the floral, resin, and lightly citrus nose shines the strongest. Carbonation seems spot on, but the slightly watery mouth feel is a bit lighter than preferred. Overall a nice smelling and tasting "IPA" and easy sipper.

Overall this was a bit of a disappointment but I'm glad I got to try it.

It feels to me like it's trying to be GreenFlash's take on something like Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale - it just doesn't quite hit the mark. The hops were more muted than expected, but the bright side is the malt wasn't overpowering by contrast.
