On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Dark brown, small tan head. Doesn't leave much lacing on the glass.

Peppery, tangy and decidedly Belgian nose. Although I miss the nutty, malty, sweet characteristics of typical American brown ales, this sound separates itself with it's powerful and tangy Belgian aroma.

More yeast and sweet fruit flavors than the nutty and bready ones I'm more accustomed to in other brown ales, but that's not to say that's a bad thing! This is a delicious dark Belgian ale, it just doesn't have many characteristics of a typical brown.

Medium bodied, well carbonated.

A distinctly Belgian take on a brown ale, but whatever its called, its a delicious, unique, and tasty beer.

On tap at the source

Poured a dark brown in color with marronish brown highlights and had a fronthy thin head leaving some lacing sticking to the glass. The aroma was pretty belgian yeasty with lots of sweet maltiness, banana fruity dark fruit ester and slight nutttiness. The flavor was also dominate by the belgian yeast character but had lots of banana alongside dark fruit, nutty, caramel accents and a touch of pear as well. The brew was medium in body with a moderate amount of carbonation which had a sweet, malty, fruity, and slight nutty finish. Easy drinking soild belgian style brew pulled off by the brewers at green flash; good job.

On tap at Rattle N Hum in midtown New York City.

Pours mahogony, tiny bubble head, film and respectable lacing left on the glass.

Sugary and yeasty nose

Sweet raisins, malts, bananas, Belgian yeasty notes, moderate balancing and drying hops late, tasty brown, more high quality and highly enjoyable brew from GF

On-tap at Stone (though I had it at Beachwood BBQ before as well)

A: The pour is fairly standard for a brown ale as it is (shockingly) brown in color with a mild tan colored head.

S: The nose is quite "Belgian" with plenty of fruity esters giving off aromas of banana and pear. There's a nice bready/malty note to it, along with some brown sugar.

T: The flavor is slightly nutty and bready with plenty of yeast and fruit qualities. The bananas are in full effect, along with a touch of pear, and a slightly spiced note.

M: The body is medium with a full and tingly carbonation to it like a Belgian beer should have.

D: I am beginning to like these Belgian beers from Green Flash more and more. I liked the flavors this one had to offer and look forward to more of these beers.
