On tap at BLAH in San Diego.

Dark brown/black, thin film of tan head.

Smells of fruity wine barrel, intense dark fruit, incense, brett, and white flowers. Assertive.

Taste is very vinous. Tart red wine with some oak and brett. The balance of the barrel, brett, and wine it fantastic.

Medium bodied, smooth mouthfeel. Acidity helps focus the flavors.

Good drinkability. Probably best on its own, though might be nice with barbecue or something rich.

Glad to have had this. Full of character.

Had this on tap last night at Blind Tiger Ale House in NYC. What a lineup they offered from Green Flash - Thanks Alen!

A: Dark, dark brown with a dark beige head.

S: Oaky, fruity, and sort of smells like a deep red wine.

T: The perfect balance of oakiness, fruitiness, and most importantly tartness - this one doesn't bite you at the end.

M: Well done. The carbonation is on par and the beer has a medium body.

D: This one was listed at 9.2% ABV. I think it went down fairly easy at that.

Overall, a rare treat that I was very happy I got to try.

Not really sure how to classify this one, but hey: it's an American beer and it's sour. Let's go with American Wild.

A: As the beer's moniker would indicate, the pour is black with a thin layer of brown foam and some sheets of lacing.

S: The roast comes through strongly, which seems to make sense, but soon after a lactic acidity and some dark berries fill the nose. A touch of funk and some oak round things out.

T: The roast is quite dominant on the palate, as is the acidity. I can't quite tell whether that acidity is from the malt or the bugs, but it is quite sharp. The fruit flavors are a bit of a sweet and sour mix of berries.

M: A highly carbonated beer which further elevates the perceived acidity. The body is perhaps a bit on the light side of medium.

D: A really unique beer. I was not completely sold on the flavors, but I found it to be so intriguing that I kept going back to the glass.
