Enjoyed at Bier Station in Kansas City. Served in a bulbous but small Belgian tulip glass.
Appearance - Body is a pale straw yellow with a crisp white head of about a finger. Dissipates after 2-3 minutes and leaves faint, silky lacing that slides back down the glass into the beer. Foam ends up a rim of froth around the edges of the glass.
Smell - Floral citrus is dominant, with elements of tropical and mango coming on to round out the nose. Very fragrant and intoxicating--smells more like an IPA than a Pale.
Taste - Grapefruit bitterness with almost zero detection of malt balance--pungent hops and faint pine resin.
Mouthfeel - Light bodied, with moderate carbonation and a very drying finish. So dry it almost feels like it's sucking the moisture out of your mouth after you've swallowed.
Overall, a very assertive beer in it's own right, and even more so when you consider the fact that it's supposed to be a session Pale Ale. I'm impressed at all the flavor they've managed to pack into this low alcohol beer, and would probably pick this up before some other session IPAs if I was looking for something with a hoppy wallop of flavor
Serving type: on-tap
