Had this on tap at Craftheads in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan http://craftheads.jp
A - Tapped a jet black color into a snifter glass with a thin, tan head eventually reducing to a fairly thick clingy ring around the glass (4)
S - Strong chocolate goodness on the nose with pleasant notes of wood and bourbon (4.5)
T - Upfront flavors of chocolate milk blended with roasted malts with with the roasted notes becoming more pronounced in the middle; some coffee and bourbon flavors as well as dashes of dark fruits were present as well (4.5)
M - On the lighter side of medium bodied thickness with moderate carbonation and a milky smooth texture (4.5)
D - Pleasant chocolate flavors, a smooth mouthfeel and definitely very easy and pleasant drinking for the 10.1% ABV (4.5)
Very good imperial stout; together with the Swan Lake Imperial stout, these are the two best Imperial Stouts I've had on my Japan trip

Poured from 12oz bottle dated 12/15/12.
Finger's worth of brown head, nice carbonation. Different taste for my palate...bakers chocolate, vanilla and coconut? Bourbon barrel is present but very mellow IMO. Finishes dry with little to no alcohol presence. I agree with the general comparison to CWBBS although my palate prefer the CW more

12oz bottle into block 15 snifter. Bottled 12/10/12. Thanks again Pidzick12!
A: Pours black with a huge, very dense, and very dark brown head that filled up the rest of the glass. Head took its time to fade into a wispy collar that left soapy spotty lace down the glass.
S: Nose is full of dark chocolate, peat, and a bit of char, but I'm also getting a few notes of soy sauce. Bourbon barrel is present but very mellow at this point. I get a few hints of sweet toasted marshmallow as well.
T: Bourbon is more prominent than the nose, but it is still very very mellow. Soy sauce oxidization is up front and noticeable, but it doesn't ruin the beer. Bourbon is sweet and lighty spicy, and I get notes of earthy peat and slight char as well. Leather and caramel bring up the finish, and the aftertaste is bitter and lingering.
M: Fuzzy carbonation, sweet, bitter, slightly sharp mouthfeel, medium-full body.
O: I never had this fresh but I've wanted to try it for a long time. While oxidization is present, this beer is still very flavorful and drinkable. Thanks again, Paul!
