Nice shiny penny copper color with a nice inch thick off white head. Light Brussels lacing. Strong aroma of vinous hops with a trace of light grains. The flavor is much more balanced with plenty of deeply pungent vegetal hops with a distinct sourdough bread grain taste. The mouth is fairly carbonated and sticky.

On Tap

Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA

Golden, glowing orange and yellow with a thin white head that leaves lines and sheets of lacing down the glass. A gorgeous beer.

A huge aroma blitz including pungent, tropical notes, lots and lots of citrus, particularly grapefruit, and tons of pine. This is a huge blast of hop aromas.

The flavor isn't quite as successful, though it isn't far behind. This is highly bitter, highly tropical, with quite a bit of pine notes as well. There is a very warming booze note throughout.

Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation.

A very good "triple" IPA, whatever that means.

On tap at Bad Apple, 12 oz. served in a fluted tulip glass.

Bright yellow orange, high clarity with a little bit of visible carbonation. A fingers width of foam, leaving behind random arcs of thin lace in the glass.

Pleasant hoppy aroma, some citrus and tropical notes, somewhat soft and not super pungent.

Flavor is moderately bitter with some citrus peel and grapefruit notes, some earthy green herbals also. Body has a pretty light feel for being 10%, and was pretty drinkable though not especially memorable.

Poured on tap into a snifter at Churchkey.

Nice off white head, very crystal clear amber orange with some deep bronze color.

Nose has an interesting sugar angle, light and brown with some sweetness of penny candy citrus. Hop front seems to follow the citrus angle, but it is a bit monotone.

Palate brings mellow malts and hop with a light pine air finish. Finish also brings some nice minty closure. Thick malt depth and backbone on this with very hidden alcohol. Palate is very slick. Great chewy hop oils to go with it.

A real nice enjoyable twist. Sugar angle on this is large but surprisingly tolerable and works well in the palate. Nicely done.

A: somewhere between deep gold and pale amber with an ivory head as-big-as-you-want-it that'll leave plenty of lace down the glass

S: rich and sweet malts are perfumed with lots of lightly floral and herbal hops with a distinct, like, "clean" aroma - the air-dried linens of the hop world; as it warmed the malts asserted themselves a bit more, bring forth a heartier and chewier, caramel character and sweetness, while the hops remained bitter, suggestive of pine and deep, earthy musk

T: the malts suggest pale fruits and fresh grains from breezy fields with clean air and sunshine; crisp hops are floral, bright, and fresh - everything about this tastes fresh and clean and new

M: medium-light feeling, ample carbonation, very clean-finishing; crisp and light (in a triple IPA!), with a mellow but undeniably perfect bittering and drying finish

O: awesome - how this is a TIPA is beyond me - there is nothing thick or cloying or heavy-handed about this at all - almost like a marriage between a pilsener and an IPA - dangerously drinkable, extremely tasty - a real delight
