Thin head but still with some scattered lace on a murky deep orange body with copper hues. Aroma of tart citrus, mostly it ages and some grapefruit, candy sugar and hint of earthy hops. Flavor follows with a somewhat medicinal tart orange and even some aspirin quality on a barely perceptible pale malt base. Hints of grapefruit and floral notes. Medium to thick body which coats the palate quite a bit with moderate to high carbonation. I have had better beers fromGF. The major issue was that the medicinal and aspirin quality got worse as I drank it and I couldn't get used to it. Maybe this keg was bad. Had this been a bottle it would have been a drain pour.

On tap at Stone.

A: Burnished gold with a finger of white foam. Lots of lacing on the glass

S: Pine, some sort on melon, Sweet bready malt. Lots of grapefruit, orange, and alcohol.

T: Pronounced pine resin with a moderate hop bitterness. Orange flesh blends with grapefruit rind and cantaloupe. Malt provides sweetness and a little caramel. Booze is unabashed, and bitterness increases from the midpalate through the finish.

M: Medium body upper low carbonation. The mouthfeel is sort of heavy and syrupy.

Overall: Big and boozy. An okay beer, just not as dry as I like and the alcohol flavor was a bit too strong. I prefer an IPA to be dry and not blast you with alcohol flavor than to be 10% and like this.

A - Body has a golden orange hue and a frothy eggshell head.

S - Light citrus notes and slightly sweet malts. Not a huge nose to this on my end as it seems rather muted.

T - Sugary grapefruit and bready malts with a bitter finish.

M - Medium carbonation, light body and a dry finish.

O - Definitely not the best IPA out of the Green Flash portfolio.

A very strange roasted fruit flavor pervades this. Really nutty but not in such a nice way. One someone said it tastes "fishy" I could not get that out of my head. Are they using seaweed now? Or is it Vegemite? Rich but very sharp, bordering on harsh. Dark tinged amber in the tulip glass at Regal Beagle in San Diego.

Out of such a wealth of DIPAs this one is not on the mark. Reminds me of New Belgium's Two Below for that odd nuttiness but this is just too weird.

On tap at Small Bar, poured into short goblet

A: Orange-amber in color, clear...little head or lacing.

S: Huge scents if citrus and ripened tropical fruit, primarily guava. Big guava. Sugary malts back things up, propelled by ample alcohol volatiles. Big nose all around.

T: The tropical/citrus notes hit right away, but the hops are way more bitter than the nose would lead you to think. Astringent...bitingly bitter. The malt-backbone is huge, and very sugary, but doesn't seem to mesh with the hop profile. Resin-y and vinous and rough around the edges.

M: Oily and viscous. Could use a bit more carbonation to wash down the oily residue.

At the front of the first sip I thought this was going to be a delicious brew, but as I parsed the huge flavors I liked it less and less. Aspects of the beer are tasty, but the overall profile is disjointed.

On tap at Churchill's

A: Golden color with a thin cream colored head.

S: A pretty good amount of citrus hops, but a huge amount of cantaloupe and melon overwhelms it.

T: I really do like Green Flash, but this just wasn't good. Lots of cantaloupe and sweet malt flavors run crazy without anywhere near the hop flavor this beer needs to be balanced.

Appearance - looks like a good dipa with a light orange color

Smell - smells like a good dipa with hops and citrus

Taste - this where things go south this beer tastes very watered down not sure what the brewer was going for

Mouthfeel - again very watered down and almost tastes like a miller lite dipa if they made one

Overall - probably one of the worst beers from Green Flash
