When poured the color was a deep yellow with orange hue and a load of white foam. Pour very slowly because of the foam.

The smell was of spices and bitter type of hops

The flavor of this pale ale was the worst I've had from Green Flash. It was to bitter for this bitter ale and the flavor was over bitter with a vinal taste. The aftertaste on the palate was way to bitter with that vinal flavor. What happen to the aroma? The flavor does not match aroma!

1 yr old bottle

Pours out a hazy golden orange with a voluminousss white head. Looking good.

Smells nice with hints of floral, spice and fruit. Gets much more herbal and grassy funk after warming up a fair bit.

Tastes mustier and earthier than the smell which works for me. A touch tart and fairly bitter for a "Belgian".

Very bubbly on the tongue. Medium bodied and dry.

i was excited to try this belgian style pale ale. i poured about an ounce into a glass and it quickly exploded with head. after several minutes i was able to pour a little more into the glass. the head is a thick white color the beer is a gold color with faint cloudiness. the smell reminds me of an indian grocery store. there is citrus with a hodgepodge of other spices swirled around. as far as the taste goes- i have only managed to pour half the bottle in my glass b/c of the thick head.
-the taste is bitter and lemony with a huge wash of spices on the back end. this beer has a very eastern feel- it is very complex. i almost think that here is too much going on. i dont say this much but i feel like it is almost over done.

12 oz. bottle.

Urgent gushing upon cap removal. Managed to get most of it in the glass though. Ruddy gold, chill hazed body shows itself once the foam settles. Big, rocky, towering, light beige head. Great cobwebs of lace up the glass. Nose features tropicalish fruit malts with a candy edge, grassy, perfume-y hops, and slightly funky farmhouse yeastiness.

Sweetish wheat malt up front. Soft candied tropical fruit notes fill in. Slightly metallic, minerally, herbal hop bitterness comes on toward the end. Somewhat-funky yeast throughout, providing a substantial "Belgian" twang. Juicier fruits in the finish along with pepper-ier, spicier hops. Dries out a bit. Creamy feel in a medium body that finishes with a strong undercurrent of carbonation. Nice.

From a bottle with no date on it. Considering the Green Flash has been dating their bottles for a while now, who knows how old this is. They haven't been distributing to Florida for more than about 7 months now though, and I picked up a bottle from a Total Wine that just opened a couple weeks ago, so I have no idea.

It pours a hazy orange amber color with a huge foamy head. Tons of lacing and excellent retention.
It smells old. The brettanomyces are definitely very present, leading me to believe this bottle is indeed old. Very rustic, funky aroma. Slightly fruity and spicy.
The taste is slightly tart and very funky. Some floral hop presense, and some caramel malts. Overall the taste is just dominated by the brett. It is highly carbonated and finishes smooth and dry.

The brett flavor I get here is nice, but not quite the same as what I get from an aged bottle of Orval. Still, seeing as this is half the price and still pretty similar, it's a good option. Orval is possibly my favorite beer in the world, and Rayon Vert is a good homage.
