Appearance - murky, deep crimson color with huge white head

Smell - fruity and floral, I'm getting lemon, lime, strawberry, apple, yeast

Taste - green apple, lemon, lime, yeast

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, full carbonation, slightly sweet upfront and then the funkiness tartness and sourness kick in the aftertaste

Overall - good and enjoyable beer.

Price point - $3.19/12 oz bottle

A: Hazy, medium honey color. Head is amazing, the color of a wheat field, towering over the top of my goblet without spilling over the sides; it lasts a long time, and when it fades the lacing is tenacious. Really, as good as it gets for this style.

S: Quite fruity, with pear, apple, and even faint grapefruit aromas. There's a little clove and white pepper, plus a funky earthiness from (I suspect) the Brettanomyces. Again, very good.

T: Finally, first chink in the armor -- after the great appearance and lovely smell, the taste fails to meet expectations, although it's still good. Malty grains flavors are fleeting at best, with tart fruit dominating early (under-ripe plum and granny smith apple come to mind). The fruit gives way to a little more hops bitterness than most Belgian pale ales sport, tending toward the sharp notes of evergreen needles, and lingering a long time on the palate. Some of the aforementioned funkiness ends up on the tongue as well.

M: Heavily carbonated and crisp. There's no hidden alcohol -- it's very evident throughout. The finish is dry to astringent.

O: Stronger in sight and smell than taste and feel in the mouth. Still, a strong member of the style. Green Flash definitely puts effort into their products.

It was incredible!! Amazing and crazy flavor with a great nose. Although a little foamy head and a bit difficult to pour I absolutely loved it. There was something I couldn't pinpoint in the taste and that made it very interesting to say the least. Green flash has a phenomenal product in the Rayon Vert.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 07-03-12. Sampled more than a year later on August 13, 2013.

The pour is pale yellow to golden with a tremendous white and light puffy head. Some haze and busy carbonation.

The aroma is quite nice with an inviting Belgian pale malts, yeast, and Belgian sugar ester with a little clove and nutmeg out back.

The body is in the medium range with a bit of acidity. That could be due to the age of the bottle.

The taste has an upfront toasted biscuit malt character at first which is superseded by a powerful peppery and mildly dry finish.

poured fairly slowly from a 12oz bottle into a standard pint glass. Apparently bottled on July 2012. Yes, a little over a year ago. Oh well, here goes.

Big frothy white head which crowned over the pint glass. Body was pale orange, somewhat cloudy, but with plenty of carbonation bubbles. Overall, looking very nice indeed. The lacing, well, clumps really, hung all over the glasss. Head, though eventually less than 1/2 inch, retained throughout

Most of what I got from the nose was spices, nutmeg I think. Also a fairly strong bready yeast smell.

Taste was just a bit jarring. The spices hung stongly on the back of the mouth, which was a little over medium. Eventually, the palate got used to it, and the second half went down quite smoothly.

Overall, an interesting beer, which I would likely have again. Certainly not a "slamming" beer, but one to take time and muse over. I have another in the fridge, and will likely try to pour it as slowly as possible, in order to try and avoid any cloudiness at all, just to see if it makes a difference.
