No label information. Saison Diego is brewed in the style of a Saison / Farmhouse Ale with spices added. Available in 12 oz. bottled 4 packs and on draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a tulip glass. Served above 51 degrees Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a billowing explosive stiff foam frothed head of a snow white complexion over a pale straw yellow body with ample agitated carbonation and fine flecked sediment in tow. Retention is very good and lacing is moderate and patchy. 4.25

(Smell) Yeast notes forward of summer fruit, peppery spice and soft funk, very clean but very potent. Mild malt notes of pale, soft malted wheat and cracker malts form a delicate and body with a light sweetness enhanced by the potent sweetness of peach and apricot juice, and balanced out with effervescent peppery spices of coriander and white peppercorns. Potency is moderate. 4

(Taste) The flavor profiles much of the same notes that the aroma suggests in varying degrees of intensity. The malt notes of cracker malt, wheat and pale generate a very soft body, almost a bit too shallow on sweetness, but somewhat saved by yeast notes of stone fruit juices, notably peach and apricot which generate a soft artificial sweetness to keep the beer from being perceived as too dry. The spiciness of the coriander and peppercorn spices added plus the yeast character comes off as quite brisk, perhaps too ambitious for the malt profile in question, overshadowing the balance and drying out the palate. There is no notable hop profile and most of the bitterness comes from spices added. Finishes very dry with a lingering fruit juice and peppery spiciness on the end. 3.75

(Mouthfeel) The texture is smooth, medium silky and very dry. Carbonation is brisk, generating a medium frothiness and a boldly crisp finish. The body is shy of medium for the style, medium overall. Balance is slightly spicy and earthy bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is light and there are no off characters. 3.25

(Overall) There's no denying that I find this beer very enjoyable all-around. Arguably a bit simplistic for the style, the yeast and spice character joins together to make one of the most drinkable and flavorful farmhouse ales out there. There's very little funk and a very ambitious blend of spices which may not be for everybody, but with the aid of a yeast-borne fruit juice-aided malt profile, there's a lot of flavor and character to savor in this beer. While I haven't tried many of Green Flash's beers, this is a very enjoyable ale and one that will have me looking into more of their Belgian-style beers. 3.75

Strong, malty aroma has a firm yeasty and fruity overtone. Pours a clear, bubbly solar yellow with a thick, fine-bubbled pale buff head. Yeasty, fruity flavor has a malty note and just a whisper of grass. Firm, smooth texture has plenty of life and fizz. Sit back with this one!

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a nice looking glossy orange to amber color. A nice foamy white one finger head started off the look on the top of this beer. After the head died off, the lacing was mainly stringy to a slight spider web fashion. The smell was fresh cut grass with a large amount of yeasty breadiness over a sweet lemon to orange aroma leading to a slight bitterness. Light coriander/spice graced the back end of the aroma. The taste was mainly the same and amplified the yeasty part and the sweet lemon. As it warmed, I got the flavor of the coriander/spice a bit more. The mouthfeel was slightly sharp but still carried a fair smooth yeastiness with a slight bitter citrus rolling over my tongue. Overall, yeah, can ya tell by the way I talk in this one how much I like this one? Though I haven't had too many saisons, glad I studied up a bit before I said something on this totally enthralling brew.

Like a less interesting version of Orval but for a lower price point.
