Pours golden color with huge head
aroma of spices and yeast.
taste starts off with a dose of hops, yeast notes, citrus hints with a medicinal after taste that is tinged with licorice and pepper.
Its an interesting brew that falls into the love / hate dept.
It sure challenged the palate.

Black liquid; light passes at the edges.
Thin khaki head; strong lacing throughout.
Black pepper in the nose; intriguing.
Medium mouthfeel.
Mint leaves and black pepper in the taste; a strange combination, but a winning one.
Totally unique. Razor sharp hops on the back end, or is that the mint? A must try.

From notes 11/25/12: Pours an opaque black producing 2+ fingers of frothy, tan, lasting head that leaves nice rings and clumps of lace. Aroma is dark roasted malt with notes of musty Belgian yest, medicinal/phenolic, floral/herbal hops, sage and spice with hints of mint, chocolate and a tiny bit of coffee. Tate is medicinal, malty roast, musty Belgian yeast, sage, rosemary, thyme, cinnamon, ginger, pine and floral hops. A sourness develops at mid-sip and is rapidly joined by a dry and astringent bitterness in the finish which intensifies to linger LONG in the aftertaste. Very herbal in overall character this is a, shall I say, VERY DIFFERENT beer.

dark opaque brown, very thin head that disappears quickly. nose is huge black licorice with dry bitter cocoa. taste is toasted barley/malts, licorice and an array of pie-type spices that i can't pick apart. odd mix of flavors with the black licorice standing out strongly. aftertaste is more licorice and a stout-esque burnt toast rind.

Strong aroma has a malty core and firm floral and herbal notes, including a firm coriander tone. Pours a warm coffee brown with a thick, foamy and rather persistent tan head. Flavor has roast barley, herbal, floral and woody notes. The herbal component is on the strong side, perhaps a mite too strong. I like coriander flavoring in beer, but not too much! It leaves a woody, herbal, slightly malty finish. Fairly smooth texture has decent body and fizz. Let’s drink a toast to friendship between craft breweries!
