Served on-draught into an 8 oz stem-goblet at Stone World Bistro and Garden in Escondido. Cost was $4. "Candela Red Barleywine" per the menu. Green Flash/Cigar City collaboration. 10.9% ABV. Reviewed from notes.

A: Pours a one finger head of khaki colour, nice thickness, nice cream, and decent retention. Body colour is a rich ruby. Nontransparent. No yeast particles are visible. No bubble show. Good appearance for a barleywine.

Sm: Milky notes, caramel, toasted malt, and floral hops. Pleasant and inviting. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Floral hops, caramel, and toasted malt. A little alcohol heat, but it's tolerable. Quite malty, and rightly so considering the style, yet also nicely hopped with complementary floral hop character. Biscuit malt. Amber malts. Not at all too bitter. Rich and enjoyable. Complex and featuring impressive depth of flavour.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Luscious with a bit of cream. Complements the flavours well. Well executed. Good palate presence.

Dr: Drinkable and enjoyable. I like it. Hides its ABV well. Very well priced. I'd get it again, especially at this price. One of the better collaboration beers I've had.

Thanks for fill, Josh!

Very dark ruby and chestnut in color, with a moderately-sized, somewhat persistent, small ring of beige foam atop the beer. Leaves the glass messy with irregular ribbons of small bubbly lace.

Lots of cedar in the aroma, along with big notes of dark fruits (red grape/raisin), but the freshly-cut cedar aroma takes center stage here, without much else to cut it.

The flavor is similar to the aroma. This is a cedar show, and it's not shy. Like stepping into woodshop and drinking the aroma of freshly-cut cedar wood. I suppose it's successful in that sense, but it doesn't make for the most enjoyable drinking experience. There's a lingering flavor on the aroma as if I just made out with a cedar forest. Not for me.

Medium in body with crisp, moderate carbonation. Big, lingering cedar aftertaste. It does not leave the tongue. The cedar...it's still there. ... It's still there. I'm taking away for this lingering, lingering, lingering misfortune.

Not a favorite of mine. A tough one to enjoy. That being said, I think the Humidor series has produced some of the most foul beers I've ever had the misfortune of putting into my mouth, and this one isn't nearly as bad. So...there's that?

12oz pour at Duckworth's Park Rd Charlotte, NC for.... $3! Unreal gr8 bar.

One of the prettier beers I've seen in a glass, complexity in appearance alone. Perhaps the best use of rye I've had the pleasure to experience. It's there in spades but tempered by hops and malts, malts that have caramel spines. Killer mouthfeel, tiny head and slightly oily lacing. At the time of this review this brew rates a respectable 88, but wow is that an understatement. If you find this on draft consider yourself lucky.

Rye wine aged on cedar enjoyed on tap at CC Tasting Room. Coffee aroma. Black with a good head and lacey. Cola taste A little sour and sugary finish. Unexpected flavours. Still decent drinkability but was expecting more with publicized barreling and ingredients, and brewers.

On tap at Bottlemixx

A - dark amber with a thick brownish head that has great retention

S - candy sugar, big wiffs of caramel, faint alcohol

T - bread, candy sugar, birthday cake, sweet malt, mildly bitter finish

M - full bodied, well carbonated

This is a really nice beer. It's hugely malty and deep. The sugar and sweetness is intense but not cloying. The alcohol is well hidden for the ABV. The all-around character of this beer is truly delicious. It's worth a try.

Had on tap at The Local (Miami). Arrives in a snifter.

A- Pours dark brown with some Ruby tones shining through and a 1/4 inch tan head. Spotty, resilient lacing plus some light wispy surface foam.

S- Didn't know it when I ordered it but I can instantly tell it was aged on cedar. Wonderful peppery aroma ignites the senses and the rye accentuates it perfectly.

T- Oh baby. Very similar to the humidor series jai alai but less hoppy. The rye plays off the cedar and, together, they bring notes of white pepper, tobacco and pumpernickel bread. Alcohol is amazingly well hidden making this a dangerous brew.

M- Silky smooth but there's still a bunch of prickle from the cedar, medium carbonation and alcohol. Full-ish body that's not overly viscous.

O- Dynamite. If you like Humidor Jai Alai, you will love this. Highly recommended.
