Drank it from a mason jar. Very little head upon receiving it, so I can't comment on that. Aesthetically, it's a dreamy dark red with less than average carbonation, but it's certainly not flat.

Just by the color, you can tell it's a malty beer, and the smell gives off that vibe. The nose is complimented by spicy notes alongside the grapefruit and pine. A really pleasant aroma.

Flavor is a mix between an Imperial IPA and an American Strong Ale. I catch the rye with every sip, but the malt gives balances the hops nicely. It's bitter, spicy, fruity, and dry on the finish. Thankfully the ABV is right where it needs to be to compliment all the flavors and make the experience memorable.

Outstanding beer... Another excellent offering from Green Flash and my new favorite Rye Pale Ale.

22 oz bottled poured into an IPA glass. No date on bottle.

A - Poured a ruby red in color with less than a ginger of head. Readily apparent carbonation. No sediment/cloudiness. Very little lacing.

S - Rye, black tea, and some citrus.

T - Rye, spice, black tea, nutmeg, and some citrus with a strong malt backbone. Minor bitter spice and tea finish.

M - Crisp and clean with strong carbonation.

O - Although labeled as a Double/Imperial IPA, does not remind me of one. Purchased this after really enjoying Founder's Red's Rye PA and was disappointed. Not a bad beer, but not a repeat purchase either

Very nice and just what I want in an IPA. More tangy than some and nice and tart. Refreshing and filling and I'll have to agree with all others when they describe the taste. Deep brick red with a bit of cloudness. Not as heavy as others described.
I need a growler of this to share post soccer game. Enjoyed a pint at the Bulldog in Baton Rouge.

Imperial Red Rye IPA. Served on-tap in a pint. Looks brick red with some haze. Regal foam topper makes up about an inch in head. Laces with some finesse.

Aggressive rye spiciness comes through behind citrusy and earthy hops which lead the pack. Dank grapefruit and pine with a touch of bitter orange and hemp leaf. Bright, which is to say the malts don't come with any sweetness. Just toasty bread notes.

Super bitter, super spicy, and very dank. Grapefruit and citrus rot, orange rind, hop oils, leafy bitterness, pine needle, alcohol, floral flutters, hint of kumquat, and a heavy toast overcast. Has the malts to talk the talk, but the hops are walking. Rye delivers with vigor. ABV might be a little high for the hop/rye offensive. The flavors are all over the map.

Feels hot, like before implied. Good sudsy mouthfeel with a whole lotta body and a whole lotta bite. It even feels remarkably filling.

I can rock out to a ballsy beer like this one. It's huge and bitter, but it tastes pretty damn fine, once you get past the booze and spiciness.

LOOK: Pours deep copper with a white-ish head that leaves plenty of lace.
SMELL: Citrus hops, fruit, cat pee, herb, and earth.
TASTE: Earthy, a bit spicy, good citrus and herb notes on a caramel malt body. Quite bitter. Rye is peppery and has a grainy sweetness adding a good depth of flavor. There is little to no trace of the alcohol content
FEEL: Medium bodied, well carbonated with a crisp rye/hop bite.
OVERALL: A really good hopped up rye from Green Flash. Refreshing, hoppy, strong and a great addition to the lineup.
