Poured it from an older bottle my friend picked up in New Orleans. When I cracked it open I immediately smelled a booziness in the air and was pretty surprised by that.
Appearance - It poured a very orange/golden, typical Imperial IPA color, but there was very little carbonation. About 1/2" head formed and it quickly dissipated.
Smell - This is probably the most interesting part, I get a real spicy, earthy type of smell I have never encountered in DIPAs before. I like it, it's quite different.
Taste - I get two forces battling it out, the bready/maltiness and the usual pine resin hoppiness. It finishes with a hoppy after taste that is nice.
Mouthfeel- Really light, not much effervescence at all.
Overall - This is a good beer I had been wanting to try. American barleywines are my favorite style right now and I wanted to see where this beer laid in terms of DIPA or American Barleywine. It's definitely on the DIPA side with an extra hop kick and some extra maltiness which I like. Good beer, different for sure.

Lightly colored, a pale fawn hue. Filtered with such purity that, were you to fill the ocean with this stuff, you’d probably be able to see clear to the bottom. Trips to the beach would also be a lot more interesting.
A rich, sticky aroma, so pungent it’s almost vinegary. Fresh-cut grass, orange blossom and black pepper quickly give way to fruitier notes like passion fruit.
flavor is deceptively sweet. Malt provides a subtle caramel note and simple syrup-style sugars, but most of the saccharine flavors seem to come from the hops, as pine and mint are replaced with tangerine, pineapple and Juicyfruit gum. Very pungent -- you can feel the heaviness of the alcohol and the hop oils.
Medium-bodied, a little heavy with alcohol. You can feel the hop oils on the tongue. mild carbonation.
Too tasty and drinkable for its own good.
