Reviewed from notes. Poured from 12 oz. bottle into a Weyerbacher pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy deep gold, with average visible carbonation and a half-finger's worth of white head.
S: This is strange. The aroma is very diminished, almost absent. A bit of booze, a bit of malt sweetness. And that's it.
T: Alcohol with a bit of acetone, spice/onion/basil hop flavors, and then bready and toffee sweet malts. Mildly bitter in the hang. But overall, there really isn't a ton of flavor here either.
M: Medium body, maybe on the light side for style. The alcohol is quite noticeable (though not on the DFH 120 level), but I think it's becomes more noticeable with the lack of other flavors. Carbonation sensation on the low side.
O: This may be the weirdest IPA I've ever had, let alone a purported Triple IPA. It was so very little flavor and aroma. I don't know if this was a bad bottle or what, but both of us that had pours from this bottle had similar observations. The aroma was so muted that if I closed my eyes, I wouldn't have been sure if there was beer in the glass. No off-flavors or oxidation that I noticed, or anything offensive…just a lot of nothing. Based on this bottle, I'd recommend avoiding this one. And I'm not motivated to go spend money for a second go-round.

A: Pours a clear gold with a thin, creamy white head that quickly settles into a thin lacing around the sides of the glass.
S: Aromas of caramel, crackers, and biscuits are joined by strong scents grass, herbs, lemon, and lime.
T: Delicate notes of caramel, crackers, and biscuits are soon overpowered by flavors of grass, lemon, lime, bitter orange, guava, unripened pineapple, passion fruit, peppermint, white pepper, sage, and white onion. The finish is resinous and bitter with grass, lemon, lime, onion, pepper, and herb flavors underscored by delicate caramel and biscuit malt notes and mellow alcohol.
M: Full-bodied and resinous. Carbonation is firm, yet unobtrusive. Alcohol is somewhat noticeable, especially on the fade, though it is not a distraction.
O: A really solid ale. I have been intrigued by the possibilities of such varietals as Pacific Gem and Green Bullet for some time and I think this ale gives me a good idea of what they can bring to the table. I would recommend this DIPA to both fans of the style and individuals intrigued by unique combinations of hops alike.
