Poured in a Spiegalgau glass. The label recommends another style of stemware, but this glass works better for an Triple IPA.

Color: Golden, with a 1 finger head. Nice lacing. Clear, carbonation bubbles from the bottom of the glass.

Aroma: quite different in regards to citrus: there is a resiny pine aroma coupled with citrus. The citrus from the New Zealand hops is different than American hops. Pacific Gem hops may give it an intense earthy aroma.

There is an unusual taste in this beer different than West Coast IPAs. The citrus is different- and very piney- a resinous pine. This is a different piney aroma-taste than a Heady Topper, and a different citrus than West Coast IPAs. No grapefruit. more on the mango side. Very pronounced.

The finish is exceptionally hoppy-bitter and spicy- which may be contributed by the Green Bullet hops.

Best to drink this beer on the warm side. The spiciness, the pine resin, the unusual citrus stand out.

An unusual beer and a good direction for Green Flash.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a generic goblet. Best by 2/7/2015.

Was expecting Nelson hops from the "New Zealand dry hopped" label, but discover there are two varieties contained within that I haven't tried before. Despite the hefty price, I decided it was worth a try.

Orange peel liquid glows a bright, clear, nearly uniform amber when held to the light. A thin off-white head dissipates quickly to a thin but lasting collar. Fine sandy lacing, delicate legs, and average retention.

Dank, herbaceous, almost savory hop aromas suggest grapes, blackberries, marijuana, passion fruit, amongst other things...weedy with a deep and unusual fruitiness that is hard to pin down.

Stewed peaches, vanilla, dandelion greens, scallions, garlic, burnt sugar, guava, fine aged balsamic (not oxidation), and caramel malt show up at various points in the flavor profile. Complex, interesting, with a growing and lasting bitterness. Fruity yet dry finish.

Unapologetically warming from the alcohol, though not excessively so. Medium-bodied, faintly oily, but with a nice biting kick from the hop assault.

A unique, flavorful, slightly challenging (the less charitible might say "challenged") beer - worth trying, though I wouldn't go out of my way to have it again. Reminds me of some well balanced yet over-the-top home-brew I've sampled more than it does most commercial styles. Compared to Green Flash's other offerings, I'll stick with Palate Wrecker, especially for the price.
