The Green Flash Brewery was defiantly not what I was expecting. Surrounded by huge business buildings and corporate parks the brewery is nestled inside a business park just off a main drag in a northern park of SD. It was down pouring when we got there so there wasn't many folks around even for a Friday afternoon (close to happy hour), but there ere about a dozen or so 'business casual' gentleman and ladies unwinding after a hard day in the office.

The brewery was extremely clean, almost to the point that I was questioning if beer was actually brewed at this location, but alas. it was. I got a flight of very hoppy fresh beers (some one off's I've never seen before). PalateWrecker was the freshest I've ever had it and far better then the bottled version I'd had previously. The bar tender was gracious about answering a few questions on what was in the barrels on the wall (saisons mostly) and the other staff on hand where nice (even talked to a brewer at the door before running into the rain)

There was a food truck but skipped it in lou of our next stop. In all I'm glad we wen't, but can't say I'd ever make a return visit. (1,139 characters)

Green flash is one of the best breweries I've ever been to. Their tasting room and patio is awesome. They have food trucks on the weekend and the selection of beers they have on tap is incredible. Something for anyone's palate. Favorite is the hop head red or the green bullet. (277 characters)

I was slightly disappointed at first, I was on a beer tour of San Diego, and for some reason I wrote down that they opened their taproom at 11am, but when I arrived shortly after that, they were closed, and I learned that they didn’t open until 3pm. Fortunately there were a number of other options in the area to hold me over til then ... and it was worth the wait. Yes, it’s in an industrial park, but they do a good job of hiding that fact once you’re there. It’s a really cool factory-like indoor area (where the taps are) and a gorgeous outdoor beer garden. Even though it felt crowded, there really wasn’t a wait to get anything - their staff flies around. Of course, they had all the Green Flash regular, seasonal, and experimental selection you could want. All the samples I had were only $1, a theme I noticed among taprooms in the northern greater SD-area, and my wallet appreciated it greatly. They don’t serve food themselves, but have a rotating food truck schedule that pulls right up to the beer garden (and was delicious). I had about seven samples, getting a good sampling of their range, but had such a good time socializing with strangers that I didn’t take very good notes at all; although, there was no beer in that group that I remember thinking "man, I’ll never get that again." I consider it as good an excuse as any (as if I needed one) to revisit this taproom next time I’m in the area. (1,430 characters)

Not sure why I never got around to reviewing Green Flash after my last SoCal microbrews trip there. Along with Iron Fist and Stone, this place has made San Diego a beer lovers city. All-round great stuff here.

Like most of the newer breweries I've been to in SD, they have a warehouse feel that make you feel you are in a brewery and not a bar. However, I visited about 2 years ago, so they may have changed the decor since then. Food, at that time at least, was via food trucks.

Great beer with very mellow vibe. Unless increased popularity and notoriety has changed the place, I would definitely recommend. (618 characters)
