My first experience with a home brew store in Greensboro was at Triad Homebrew Supply. While it wasn't a terrible experience, I felt like the shop was lacking in customer service, selection and experience (unless Ken was there, and even then I found his attitude to be abrasive).

As it happened one day a fellow employees was out to lunch and found a homebrew shop near our office. At that time I was buying everything online from Northern Brewer and was unaware of the shop but decided that since I lived in close proximity I would check it out.

I was totally impressed. There is a huge selection of grain, hops, yeast and equipment. I counted 43 different malts and adjuncts on my first visit! His hop selection is vast, both pellets and whole. There are always fresh Wyeast smack packs in his fridge. On one brew Saturday I pitched yeast from his shop that was packaged at Wyeast that Tuesday!

The owner, Dan, is incredibly knowledgeable and is more than willing to offer advice and listen to your experiences as a home brewer. I regularly go into the shop just to bring in samples for critical review and bounce ideas off of him.

Dan's prices are fair. You can do slightly better online for some items but that is the reality of a brick and mortar store vs online. Having Dan is great piece of mind though. I know if I need virtually anything from ingredients to equipment that it is highly likely to be in stock.

All-in-all this is the best homebrew shop in the Triad. I would recommend to everyone in the area to visit this shop and see that Greensboro really does have one-stop homebrew shop!

Without a doubt, one of the best stores for purchasing supplies to create at home. Dan is like a best friend from the moment he meets anyone. He is top notch in product selection and knowledge of the process. He is eager to help you find what you need and give you information on how to take it a step further. This is a wonderful place for the novice, those just starting to brew, and for 'experts'. Outstanding!

All products are of good quality and very reasonably priced. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Plenty of easily accessible parking is a huge advantage over triad homebrew if you do not drive a smart car. Very nice selection of equipment, including mash pots, stands, etc. I will definitely drive the extra distance to big Dan's for my future homebrew supplies. The open layout makes it convenient to find what I was looking for.

As a newbie to the home brewing scene I was very impressed. Dan took a lot of time with me. While the shop wasn't very busy at least three other customers came in and Dan and his wife worked with them while still answering my many questions and helping me pick up some of the things I needed.

Dan really seems to know what he is talking about and is willing to take time with a new customer with way too many questions.

He even gave me his card and told me to call or email him if I had any questions. One of the items I bought he had in two different versions. He sold me the less expensive saying it was actually the better product.

You may find better prices on the internet but you won't find this kind of service.

This is a relatively new place in town. This was the first I had heard of it. I was at Triad Homebrew and they didnt have whole hops, so they told me about this place. Glad they did! I will make this my home store.

Awesome selection on everything. Big Dan was readily available for help, although on my visit, it was pretty busy. All of the grains are in resealable tubs (not bags) so they dont get stale or get bugs in them. They also have a nice grain mill; looks very professional. Everything has a price prominently displayed which I love. They have Wyeast, which I am used to White Labs, but Wyest is probably better with the smack pack. Plenty of hops in store as well. I dont think there was anything not here. I am sure if you need something this store will be more than willing to accomodate any requests.

All in all a great store. I hate to say it, but Triad Homebrew is falling way behind. This is definitely the best place in the Triad for all homebrew ingredients and wares.

I'm a newbie to homebrewing and real beer in general and Dan's is the only homebrew shop that I choose to use. Not only is he a great guy, but he has a vast knowledge of beer and brewing. He is active in the two homebrew clubs in the area. He is conveniently located just off of I-40 which is great for us locals as well as those traveling along this major interstate. He carries a full line of what you need to brew some great homebrews, from full starter kits. to fresh grains, yeast and hopsand everything else you need. With his turn over, you are sure to get fresh quality ingredients. If you are in the area, stop by and tell Dan that Redneck Beerz sent you his way.
